How was the illness discovered? A boy suffered from severe chronic pain and various symptoms for years. His mother visited a total of 17 doctors with him over 3 years and underwent various treatments. But all without success.
Finally, the mother desperately asked ChatGPT, gave the AI the symptoms, and input the boy’s MRI records. The AI explained to her that the boy might be suffering from a rare spinal cord disease:
We saw so many doctors. Eventually, we ended up in the emergency room. I kept pushing. I literally spent the whole night on (the computer) … going through all these things.

I went through everything line by line that was in his (MRI records) and input it into ChatGPT. I noted that he didn’t want to sit with crossed legs. For me, that was an important indication that something structural might be wrong.

With these results, she then went to a real doctor. A neurosurgeon examined the boy and confirmed the diagnosis of the artificial intelligence. The boy was subsequently operated on and was able to recover from his illness.
Andrew Beam, Ph.D., assistant professor of epidemiology at Harvard, who studies machine learning models and medicine, explained to his colleagues at Today.com that AI can be a great help in medicine:
I believe that ChatGPT can be a good partner in this diagnostic odyssey. It literally has read the entire internet. It may not have the same blind spots as a human doctor.
Artificial Intelligence is Being Used in Many Areas
AI is now being used more and more frequently. However, the use of artificial support is not always uncontroversial. There are many fields of activity for such projects and software.
