The 2nd season of the live-action adaptation of One Piece is drawing closer. However, it has not yet been revealed how the reindeer Chopper will look in the series. The actor playing Zorro gives a positive update about it.
What does the actor reveal about Chopper? In an interview with Variety, Mackenyu was asked what he can share about the 2nd season of One Piece. The actor portrays Zorro, the swordsman of the Straw Hat crew, in the live-action series.
Mackenyu immediately thinks of a fellow actor who has left a lasting impression. He reveals:
I try not to give too much away, but a lot of new characters are coming. We will cover the story arc – Oda-sensei announced it – until Chopper comes out. And I met Chopper! He was the cutest! Oh my God, I am a Chopper fan.
He adds that it was crazy to act alongside him. For Mackenyu, the experience was something special that he can take home with him. This could suggest that Chopper will be portrayed by a person who hasn’t been present on set yet – for example, a child.

Chopper is a big mystery of One Piece
Why is Chopper so special? In the series, Chopper is a reindeer who has eaten the Human-Human Fruit. This allows him to walk on two legs and speak with humans. For a live-action version, the question remains how the human reindeer will be portrayed in the series.
Thanks to a crew member of the series, we already know that Chopper will be portrayed by a human (via GamePro). Additionally, CGI effects will be used to depict things like fur or the animations of the ears.
Furthermore, it is confirmed who plays Chopper in his “Heavy Point” version. In this form, Chopper grows to adult size and becomes stronger, which is why he will be portrayed by an adult actor.
However, it remains a big mystery what the little Chopper will look like in his child form. Therefore, fans are eager to see how the little reindeer will look with a mix of actor and CGI effects.
What’s the status of the 2nd season? The filming for the 2nd season has now been completed. Although there is no official release date yet, it has already been revealed that the series will launch sometime in 2025. The series will be exclusive to Netflix.
