Game of Thrones has been a TV phenomenon and is still considered one of the best series of all time. At least until the end, which many viewers found disappointing. One of the main actors, Kit Harington, is also not satisfied with the finale.
Why was the ending of Game of Thrones not satisfactory? Game of Thrones is based on the books A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. The problem with Game of Thrones starting from season 6 was that there was nothing left to adapt.
Although liberties had been taken previously to deviate from the events in the books, from season 6 onward, the show’s writers had to find an ending on their own. Season 6 was still popular, but seasons 7 and 8 were not. The series’ finale left many fans dissatisfied, a fact Kit Harington acknowledges in an interview.

What does Harington say about season 8? In an interview with GQ Magazine, Kit Harington also talked about season 8 of Game of Thrones. He explains that it simply had to end because no one had the energy anymore. He does, however, understand the opinion that the ending came too quickly. He is unsure if there could have been an alternative.
I think if there was a mistake at the end of Thrones, it was that we were all so damn tired that we couldn’t go on any longer. […] When I look at pictures of myself from the last season, I look exhausted. I look exhausted. I had no more season left in me.

When asked about the last episode, he says that everyone would have their own opinion. He believes that there were probably mistakes made story-wise towards the end. He thinks there were interesting decisions that didn’t work out correctly.
What about his own spin-off? He is also asked about the spin-off for Jon Snow in the interview. The plans for the series have since been put on hold. Harington does not want to give details but mentions that he initially had no desire for the spin-off. However, he found the idea of a soldier after the war
interesting.
According to him, the story was worked on for years, but nothing of it was supposed to be exciting, which is why work on the story has been paused for now.
Harington also shares how important Game of Thrones has been for his life. He believes it could be the biggest and most important work he has ever been involved in. He met his wife and lifelong friends on set. However, Harington also tries to distance himself from the show so that people see more than just Jon Snow.
