Red Dead Redemption 2 has multiple endings, depending on the players’ decisions. However, for the actor portraying Arthur Morgan, there is only one true ending – and two others make no sense to him.
Attention: Here we reveal details about the ending of Red Dead Redemption 2.
What endings are there? In Red Dead Redemption 2, there are four different endings that players can experience after the story. The initial situation is that Dutch Van der Linde has gone too far, and Micah Bell turns out to be an informant for the Pinkertons.
Arthur Morgan and John Marston separate from the two. Ultimately, they find themselves in a confrontation with Dutch’s gang and the Pinkertons. After that, there are four possibilities for how the game can end:
- Good ending with high honor: We can choose to help John. Since Arthur has little time left before he dies from tuberculosis, he sacrifices himself for John so that he can escape. He encounters Micah and Dutch but is left alone by both. He dies peacefully.
- Good ending with low honor: Arthur also sacrifices himself for John here, but he does not die as peacefully as in the other ending. Instead, he is shot by Micah Bell.
- Bad ending with high honor: Instead of saving John, we can choose to take Dutch’s gang’s money. In the process, Arthur returns to camp, leading to a showdown with Dutch and Micah. Unfortunately, Arthur dies in the end but is left alone by Micah and Dutch.
- Bad ending with low honor: Here too, we choose the money and rush to the camp. After Dutch turns away, Micah pulls out a knife and stabs Arthur in the back.
Players can determine the ending by making a significant decision. Additionally, the honor that a player has accumulated throughout Red Dead Redemption plays a significant role.

The actor of Arthur Morgan sees only one ending as correct
Which ending makes the most sense to him? Roger Clark lent his appearance and voice to Arthur Morgan. He sees only one of the endings as official, namely the good ending with high honor. You can see his complete reaction starting at 3:36 in the following English-language video:
Why do two of the endings make no sense? In contrast, two endings make absolutely no sense to him. Arthur suffers from an incurable disease. Therefore, Clark does not understand why Arthur would choose the money.
It could be that Arthur wants to grab the money to give it to someone else. Perhaps he might want to support John with the money.
However, we understand Clark’s point that Arthur would likely save John directly. Because what use would the money be to Arthur if John would not survive? He could support other people with the money, but we take the view in his story that Clark is right about the actual ending.
Roger Clark used motion capturing so that Arthur Morgan has the same appearance and facial expressions as he does. The actor also had to spend a long time in the recording studio to voice Arthur Morgan’s dialogues. Some scenes had to be re-recorded because the conversations with his horse sounded too erotic: Cowboy in Red Dead Redemption 2 spoke too sexily to horse, had to re-record
