You are on page 3 of the MeinMMO list of the best loot shooters. Here you can go to page 1.
Outriders
What makes the game special? In Outriders, a planet breaks right in the intro, to which humanity fled after Earth gave up the ghost.
It would therefore be an understatement to say that the story is dark and nihilistic. And therein lies the unique appeal of the game: it feels good to slaughter through a world where only one’s own strength matters, as a quasi-deity.
Thus, Outriders is a kind of quintessential loot shooter and plays excellently as well.
Here you can check out a gameplay video of the “Worldslayer” expansion:
Who should take a closer look at the game? The greatest strengths of Outriders are the 4 classes and the build possibilities that are open to you.
Through a clever trick, they also play very differently, even if you should build them similarly: Each class has a unique gameplay mechanic that allows them to heal themselves. The Pyromancer must hit enemies with their skills and then kill them, while the Trickster must take down enemies in melee.
Especially solo players will notice these gameplay differences and should therefore have a lot of fun with the game. But even in co-op, the classes work together in interesting ways, which plays a significant role, especially in the finally good endgame – that was rather a failure at launch.
Risk of Rain 2
What makes the game special? Although there is an end boss in Risk of Rain 2, the real fun comes in another form. Because as long as you survive, the round continues in this roguelite shooter. With every minute, the enemies become more numerous and dangerous – and the random rewards get better.
Both your character and your enemies escalate in their power levels until absolute overstimulation occurs. Thus, the chaos grows and grows until either you fall dead or the frames can no longer keep up.

Who should take a closer look at the game? The first Risk of Rain was still a sidescroller roguelite with many fans. The second part has managed almost perfectly to transform that gameplay feeling into a third-person shooter, despite completely different mechanics.
Since Risk of Rain 2 is mainly an endless shooter, there are literally no limits to your looting. You can theoretically collect an endless number of items and get stronger continuously.
However, because the enemies do that too, it is easier said than done. This feeling of wanting to go further the next time motivates significantly both short and long term and is unique in the market.
