Worst Case: An overambitious prestige project that fails to meet expectations.
How has the development gone so far? Lineage Eternal aims to become a hit and generate immense revenue over the years, ideally decades. The franchise is important for NCSoft. However, it has taken an incredibly long time to slowly approach “Closed Beta” in Korea – a warning sign when a game takes so long in development.
There have been many individual snippets of information over the years: It will support mobile, accommodate up to 500 players in one area, and will have PvP arenas, among other things. At the moment, it’s hard to envision.
Could expectations crush Lineage Eternal?
Will Lineage Eternal still be released in 2017? At this moment, it’s hard to say, as the Korean beta just starts at the end of November – shortly after this article is published. A worldwide release is announced. NCSoft has significantly increased its presence in the West recently. The market here is important to them; Lineage Eternal is even more critical – probably more than anything else in recent years. Lineage Eternal might still be out by late 2017 – at least betas could start here.
Mein MMO says: The “Hack and Slash” genre is “ripe” for a breakthrough. Here in the West, people want to play more than just “Diablo 3.” Loot, action, character development – that’s a devilishly strong combination.
Fans are looking at Lost Ark and Lineage Eternal; Blizzard is surely also working on a Diablo IV – Something is bound to happen in the action MMORPG/Hack and Slash area – the questions are: Will this happen in 2017, and which game will come out on top? Lineage Eternal is a hot candidate.
