4. 12 Monkeys
Release: 1995 | Director: Terry Gilliam
What is the film about? James Cole, played by Bruce Willis, is a convict in a dystopian future. Humanity has been almost entirely wiped out by a virus, and James is supposed to travel back in time to find the origin virus. However, he ends up in a psychiatric hospital and is seen as crazy.
What makes 12 Monkeys so good? 12 Monkeys has a unique atmosphere that remains until the end. Bruce Willis plays the increasingly desperate James so well that by the middle of the film, one is unsure whether he really is crazy and does not come from the future. Brad Pitt also plays a flamboyant character here. The soundtrack of the film is also really great. The main theme stuck in my head long after watching.
3. Pulp Fiction
Release: 1994 | Director: Quentin Tarantino
What is the film about? Pulp Fiction tells 4 stories that intertwine despite different events. The common thread of the story is a stolen briefcase, the contents of which are unknown.
What makes Pulp Fiction so good? Pulp Fiction is one of the best films of all time (via IMDb). The film manages to connect 4 completely different stories, and the dialogues are not only cult, but the highlight that keeps you captivated. Bruce Willis unfortunately takes a backseat in Pulp Fiction to his acting colleagues, which is why we only place the film at number 3.
Pulp Fiction might be the best film on this list, but not the best Bruce Willis film.
