The Easter holidays 2020 have begun. But this year, instead of vacation, many are focusing more on staying in their own four walls. We have selected 7 MMOs that you can play for free in the coming days.
What is this special about? We present games where you are guaranteed to interact with other players and which are also free to play.
We have identified various MMORPGs, MMO shooters, and a popular MMO for smartphones. All 7 titles are free to play at least during the Easter holidays, but most of them are also permanent. The order is randomly chosen.
Destiny 2 – MMO Shooter
Genre: Shooter | Developer: Bungie | Platform: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Stadia | Release Date: September 6, 2017| What is currently free? The base game, and all expansions during a promotion.
What is Destiny 2? In the loot shooter by Bungie, you take on the role of a powerful Guardian who must protect the world from various dangers. You choose one of three classes and then play through the story, complete raids and strikes, or battle in PvP.
You can complete many tasks alone, while others can only be done in a group. For this, you can team up with friends or complete strangers. Highlights of Destiny 2 include:
- The great gunplay
- Diverse content such as raids and seasonal events
- Character progression including levelling your artifact and exotic weapons
- Various PvP content, including a PvEvP mode
Why is it particularly worthwhile at Easter? The base game of Destiny 2 is now Free2Play, so it can be played anytime. However, there is currently a special promotion that allows you to play the DLCs for free.
For the registration at Google Stadia, you get 2 months of Stadia Pro for free. This also includes Destiny 2.
The Elder Scrolls Online – MMORPG
Genre: MMORPG | Developer: Zenimax Online| Platform: PC, PS4, Xbox One | Release Date: April 4, 2014 | What is currently free? The base game until April 14.
What is The Elder Scrolls Online? “The Elder Scrolls Online” is not a classic MMORPG. It primarily offers a lot of fun for single players.
You can complete the story and most tasks in the open world without depending on other players. Additionally, the areas scale dynamically so you can enjoy the world of Tamriel at any level.
A highlight of ESO is especially for fans of the “Elder Scrolls” series, as the MMORPG narrates many stories from the single player games and leads you to iconic locations from other parts. This is particularly true for the upcoming expansion Greymoor, which heavily references Skyrim.
Why is it particularly worthwhile at Easter? ESO is basically a Buy2Play game. However, in line with Easter, the base game is free. The promotion lasts until April 14, during which you can simply download and try the game.
The free version also includes the new prologue quest for Greymoor. You can start this easily and take a first look at Skyrim. It’s worthwhile for both fans of the single-player game and MMORPG fans.
