Survival games like the Steam hit V Rising require a lot of organization – “Inventory management” could almost be considered a field of study. To help you understand which items are worth an inventory slot from the start, we present to you the best starting items on MeinMMO.
What is this about? In V Rising, you play as an awakened vampire, tracing the past powers of your race. Without armor or sun protection, you will hunt for interesting humans and creatures that grant you new skills and knowledge.
Over time, you will craft strong armors, mix powerful sunscreen, and venture deeper into the vast world.
To make sure you know from the very beginning which items you need for your ascension and what they can bring you, here is a small shopping list for your tours through the world of V Rising.

Whetstones
What does it bring? The smithing material helps you improve your first weapons and tools. Additionally, you will use it to build the mills. At the beginning, you cannot craft these parts yourself and must loot them.
Even later, whetstones remain relevant – they are part of the recipe for scourge stones, and you will need a significant amount of those.
Where do I get it? Human enemies, especially soldiers, often carry a few whetstones around. They can also frequently be found in chests.
Grave Dust / Bones
What does it bring? You will be grateful for every pile of grave dust you collect at the start. The dust is also part of the recipe for scourge stones and is used when renovating your castle.
While bones can also be ground into grave dust, you need 75-100 bones for one unit of grave dust. Therefore, always take all the bones with you.
Where do I get it? Bones can be obtained from skeletons and dead animals, while grave dust, not surprisingly, can be found in cemeteries or from stronger skeleton enemies.
Paper / Scrolls
What does it bring? With paper, you research new items to craft. At the research table, you can exchange 50 paper for a random research item, and you need a considerable amount of paper to progress here. You will rarely find books with targeted research.
Scrolls are the next research material, and if you happen to come across any rolls, make sure to keep them for later.
Where do I get it? Paper is not far from humans. Defeat some human enemies and use their scraps for your research.
Copper
What does it bring? Copper advances you to the next level of weapon evolution and is the first important ore. You will need a lot of it to replace your first weapons, and you can find initial deposits on your early travels through the world, so take the stuff with you.
However, you must “upgrade” your first weapons to have enough power to mine the ores.
Later on, you will also need copper for larger containers, such as bookshelves. The shelves are a cost-effective alternative with ample storage space.
Where do I get it? You can find the brown copper deposits everywhere near cliffs or outcroppings. There is also a copper mine in the first area.
While the mine is full of enemies and will demand everything from you at the beginning – the yield is excellent.
Seeds
What does it bring? Of course – your castle needs to be spooky and exude an eerie atmosphere. But nothing beats a garden in a survival MMO.
In V Rising, planting in your home garden is quite straightforward – through the building menu, you place the plant, and it will grow until a hostile creature destroys the base.
Choose a suitable spot and take care of a nice garden with “blood roses” and “mourning lilies” – you will need both plants in abundance later.
Where do I get it? Whenever you harvest the respective plants, you also have a chance to get the seeds. Use your swords when harvesting bushes and plants for a little bonus. Seeds can also be found in chests.
Animal Hides / Coarse Thread
What does it bring? You need animal hides right at the start for your armor and also for the next stages of your protective gear. Additionally, coarse thread is important for the new armor.
The hides are processed into leather at the tannery, and once you have collected enough animal hides and thread, you can obtain the new armor very quickly.
Where do I get it? Animals like wolves or deer drop some animal hide every time you take them down. Coarse thread is more of a human thing and can be found in settlements, but also drops from defeated soldiers.
Unblemished Hearts
What does it bring? Unblemished hearts can be upgraded into “Improved Blood Essences” at the blood press and are thus an important crafting material that remains useful for a long time. This is how you improve your gear or build a servant’s sarcophagus with the large essences.
Since improved blood essences cannot be looted directly and can only be crafted later, you should not leave any unblemished heart behind.
Where do I get it? All figures with a heart also have a chance of dropping a heart. In most cases, these are blemished hearts that you can press into blood essences or use as emergency rations.
However, every now and then, good and innocent people lose an unblemished heart that you can demonically grin and pocket.
V Rising pursues some interesting approaches in the survival genre and impresses with its vampire setting, offering something new in the field.
