Destiny 2 or the Question “How do I Nerf an Entire Game?”
Why does a whole game appear here? When selecting nerfs that could apply to this list, I was able to draw on numerous examples from the predecessor of Destiny 2. For the current installment, this was significantly more difficult.

Of course, nerfs were also made in Destiny 2; however, these were absolutely necessary and justifiable, such as
- The Ikelos shotgun, which was significantly too strong and needed adjustment, yet did not achieve the legendary status of the Gjallarhorn.
- The dominance of the Prometheus Lens was only temporary and was based on a flaw
- The nerf of submachine guns was more a side effect of comprehensive buffs to other weapon categories
No, when it comes to Destiny 2, we need to think in larger dimensions. When you look closely, Destiny 2 was a single nerf of Destiny 1, which can be evidenced by a multitude of components.

This is why Destiny 2 is a nerf of Destiny 1: With Destiny 2, Bungie took a new path that many Guardians disliked. Compared to its predecessor, players had to accept significant compromises:
- Abilities charged significantly slower
- The movement of the Guardians was slowed down
- The new slot system significantly restricted weapon choice, as a large part of the weapons could be found in only one slot (power weapons)
- Even the primary weapons did not feel as powerful as in the predecessor.
- Sniper rifles, one of the most popular weapon classes in Destiny 1, were changed to the extent that their popularity suffered significantly in the sequel.
- Character abilities could no longer be changed as detailed; only talent trees could be unlocked.

Many players missed the feeling, at the launch of Destiny 2, of being a powerful space warrior who could smash everything to pieces.
You might think that Destiny 2 has become a harder game through these changes. In fact, the opposite was the case.
This impression is subjective, but I felt that the story of Destiny 2 was easier and more accessible than in its predecessor. Bungie’s motivation was clear: They wanted to open the game to a larger audience.

The story of Destiny 2 is dominated by buffs: Since the launch of Destiny 2, 17 months have passed. During this time, Bungie has done a lot to restore that familiar gameplay and power that Guardians loved in Destiny 1.
This process is still ongoing and will likely accompany Destiny 2 until its end. It will be interesting to see how Bungie will handle a potential sequel and whether Destiny 3 will start with nerfs or buffs compared to Destiny 2.
