Send Jackie to the Ripperdoc
After a robbery gone a bit awry at Konpeki Plaza, where V ended up with a highly sensitive biochip in their head as a reward, you escape together with Jackie from the scene from the Arasaka soldiers.
Unfortunately, you both do not leave alive. Jackie gets hit by a bullet in the hotel and slowly but surely bleeds out in the Delamain escape vehicle. V tries to keep him conscious, but it does not help.
Delamain, the vehicle’s AI (which we count among the most interesting NPCs in the game), tells V that it can take Jackie to a place of their choice. You can take him home to his family or leave him waiting in the car, but you can also send him to a Ripperdoc.
The latter sounds to many like the most sensible option in the situation, perhaps even the most hopeful. We know a good and reliable Ripper, Victor Vector, who is also familiar with Jackie. We hope he can somehow save him.
I also sent Jackie to Victor at the beginning because it seemed like the best and right decision to me. However, that was a mistake.
You miss not only a ceremony with his friends and family. As if that weren’t already bad enough, Jackie’s body is stolen by Arasaka and his soul is later processed into a kind of engram, similar to Johnny’s.
If you also select the wrong ending, you will later face the utterly unsettling inhuman stored psyche of an old friend, which pushes the emotional wound even deeper.
