Honorable Mention: The Quinfall and The Day Before – Too good to be true?
Where is the problem with these titles? Lastly in this list, we want to introduce two somewhat special titles. These are the open-world shooter The Day Before and the MMORPG The Quinfall. We combine them because they both share a very similar problem.
Both titles promise so incredibly much that they actually cannot deliver on those promises. The Day Before impressed some time ago with trailers and pretty graphics, but even today, not much more is known about the upcoming game.
While The Day Before managed to stay high on the list of Steam games with the most wishlist users, the shooter is currently completely gone from Steam. Allegedly there are problems with the name, which the developers apparently did not secure.
Many fans now even agree that The Day Before might not even exist as a game. However, the developers are still fiercely defending against these claims. After the last postponement, The Day Before is supposedly set to release in 2023 after it was originally expected to be released at the end of last year.
The MMORPG The Quinfall has a similar fate, though it is not quite as extreme. The announcement for the game is relatively fresh, but the feature list is unbelievably large. The title is supposed to offer so many different contents that it would be quite ambitious even for a large and experienced team.
However, the team behind The Quinfall currently consists only of five people and has almost no experience regarding MMORPG creation.
Both The Day Before and The Quinfall therefore sound on paper much too good to be true. However, if they can manage to deliver on their current promises, both could become real MMO highlights for 2023. We are currently a bit skeptical about that.
Recently released MMOs and MMORPGs worth playing in 2023
What else can you play? In addition to completely new titles, there are also strong existing MMOs and MMORPGs that could be worth it in 2023. To keep the scope of the list from completely exploding, we will only provide a brief overview here.
- World of Warcraft – Following the successful Dragonflight expansion, WoW will continue to be supported with updates in 2023 and generally seems to have a very strong year ahead.
- The Elder Scrolls Online – ESO breaks its normal update cycle in 2023, providing variety. In the middle of the year, the next expansion Necrom features a completely new class, generating hype in the community.
- Destiny 2 – Destiny 2 is also getting an expansion in 2023, which has generated a lot of anticipation. Already in February, Lightfall will be released and bring the Darkness ability Strand.
- Lost Ark – The game had an extremely strong launch in 2022 and has several contents prepared for 2023. By now, almost all classes from Korea are also available in the West, and in April, the next major patch is already on the horizon.
These were our recommendations for the year 2023 in the field of MMOs and MMORPGs. What do you think? Do the titles have the potential to become the highlights of the year? Or do you have a completely different opinion about some games? Did we perhaps forget a particularly exciting game? Feel free to let us know in the comments here on MeinMMO.
