How does it play? In Fortnite: Battle Royale, a regular match begins with a jump from a bus onto a battlefield. There, you glide down with up to 99 other players to any point on the map. After landing, you quickly search for weapons and items to prepare yourself for the match.
The playing area is gradually reduced during a match by a deadly storm. The last player or team standing wins.
With various weapons like shotguns or sniper rifles as well as adventurous vehicles like the Kugler, you fight against other players for victory. Materials like wood, stone, or metal can be harvested to build defenses.
How does the title generate revenue? In the in-game shop of Fortnite, you can buy V-Bucks, which can then be used to purchase cosmetic items like skins, emotes, or paint jobs. Gameplay-altering items cannot be purchased.
In Fortnite: Battle Royale, new seasons regularly start, for which the developers offer a battle pass costing about €9.50 and enticing players with more cosmetic rewards that can be unlocked.
Fortnite: Battle Royale is free.
What interesting things have happened in Fortnite? Recently, Fortnite hosted a massive event where a monster fought against a robot.
This weekend, the big Fortnite World Championship is coming up, which fans are already looking forward to.
Who evaluates the top games?
The results of the most successful games in June 2019 come from SuperData. This is a US market research company. According to its own statements, they evaluate all kinds of sources to determine how much revenue the respective games could generate digitally.
Can the numbers be completely trusted? Because SuperData protects its sources, it’s hard to say. On their website, they write that they obtain information from publishers, developers, and payment service providers through protected data partnerships.
The numbers from SuperData are used worldwide by gaming magazines and are considered a reliable indicator of the success of games alongside other market research figures.
