The Prometheus Lens or the Discovery of Suppressive Fire
So far, no weapon has been found in Destiny 2 that possesses legendary potential. Bungie has focused on maintaining balanced mechanics. This changed with the release of the first expansion Curse of Osiris.
With Osiris, a weapon entered the game that left no room for doubt – something was wrong with this weapon. Even in Destiny 1 with the significantly lower TTK in the Crucible, this weapon would have dominated; in Destiny 2, its effects are even more devastating.
First victims of the weapon reported having felt helpless against it. This gameplay footage confirms it:
Bungie felt forced to issue a statement shortly after. The weapon was said to be bugged and inflicted significantly more damage than intended. At least the current Trials of the Nine can still be played with the Prometheus Lens in its current form, which turned into the “Trials of the Prometheus Lens”.
The fame of the Prometheus Lens will likely be short-lived – Bungie has already announced changes. On December 12, this dominance should come to an end. Until then, you can buy the weapon from Xur and venture into the Crucible.
