Warning, spoilers! The following paragraphs contain information from the expansions Shadowbringers and Endwalker.
Rank 3: Crystal Exarch
After the liberation of Ala Mhigo, things should have been quite peaceful for the Warrior of Light – aside from the threat from Garlemald. But a mysterious voice and a hooded figure leave one restless.
The Crystal Exarch ultimately manages to draw the player into his world, which needs saving. There he acts as a friendly yet somehow mysterious, if not even dubious, helper.
In the end, the Crystal Exarch proves not only to be a powerful ally but also an old friend: G’Raha Tia, an ally from the Crystal Tower raid series, has traveled through time and dimensions just for us to save our lives but also an entire world.

As Crystal Exarch, G’Raha Tia is extremely powerful: Through his Allagan blood, he can control the Crystal Tower and its power. This allows him to project himself to distant places, grant a very long life, powerful banishing magic, time travel, and even travel between dimensions.
But the bond with the Crystal Tower demands its sacrifices: After the battle against Elidibus at the tower’s peak, the tower crystallizes him completely. The life of the Exarch ends there.
The Warrior of Light can still save his memories, awakening the slumbering G’Raha Tia in his own dimension. Although he is still powerful, he is unfortunately not as strong as he was before due to the lack of connection with the tower.
Rank 2: Elidibus
During the Hydaelin X Zodiark
saga, we meet several of the so-called Ascians: Lahabrea, Fandaniel, and also Igeyorhm. One of the most powerful among them is Elidibus, the Ascian in the only white robe.
During the time of the Ancients, when Amaurot still stood, he was the youngest member of the Convocation of 14. Even at a young age, he stood on par with the most powerful individuals of his world. To save his homeland, he offered himself as a vessel for the Primal Zodiark.
After the world was shattered into the Source and its mirror dimensions, he remained for a long time on the moon with Zodiark. Following Lahabrea’s failure, he left his retreat and began actively interfering in his group’s mission.

Elidibus is characterized by his incredibly sharp intellect. He always thinks several steps ahead and surprises his opponents. In addition, his powerful magic as one of the Ancients: In the final battle for Norvrandt, he plunges the land into a kind of apocalypse, summoning hundreds of manifestations of heroes into battle and making himself into his ideal of the Warrior of Light
.
After his death, his soul continues to exist – trapped in the Crystal Tower. He learns to use it so well that he enables his arch-nemesis, the Warrior of Light, to travel thousands of years into the past.
With his incredible intelligence, calm demeanor, and powerful magic, Elidibus is one of the most powerful, but not the most powerful Ascian.
In Dawntrail, new, powerful enemies await:
Rank 1: Emet-Selch
Emet-Selch. The sarcastic world observer encounters the player in a small glimpse of Garlemald. In the guise of a young Solus zos Galvus, he gives a speech to his successor, Zenos’ father Varis.
The Warrior of Light first meets him later in Norvrandt. There he mainly observes and makes silly comments. At the same time, he proves to be a source of invaluable knowledge about the world. He also helps the Scions of the Seventh Dawn from time to time. For example, he saves Y’Shtola.
However, on Mount Gulg, the Warrior of Light disappoints him. The friendliness is over. Ultimately, the two fight against each other in the phantom city of Amaurot summoned by Emet-Selch. The Warrior of Light can only win with the help of his friends. As a farewell, Emet-Selch gives his opponent a smile.

Even in his youth
, as the bearer of the title of Emet-Selch in Amaurot, he is distinguished by his infinite knowledge and magical abilities. Over the following millennia, his creation magic grows so much that he can create an entire city and its inhabitants from nothing.
In battle with the Warrior of Light, he also reveals his true form: a gigantic being with wings from which hang the masks of his old comrades.
Emet-Selch even helps from the afterlife: In the battle with Elidibus, he saves the Warrior and his allies from death in nothingness and bids farewell with his famous wave.
Apart from monsters, Primals, and boss opponents like the Endsinger, Omega, and co., Emet-Selch is truly the strongest NPC in Final Fantasy XIV.

Currently, most players are going through the new expansion Dawntrail. This certainly has more powerful characters in store. The length of the cutscene almost rivals Endwalker: Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail has so many cutscenes that you could watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy twice
