In Final Fantasy XIV is full of powerful characters, bosses, and monsters. But which NPC is actually the strongest? Here we have ranked the five most powerful NPCs up to and including Endwalker in the Power Ranking.
How was the ranking created? For our ranking, we have established a few rules. We only rank NPCs that …
- are alive during the adventures of the Warrior of Light.
- that are not Primals or monsters.
- that appeared in the story before the release of Dawntrail.
Warning, spoilers! In this ranking, we discuss events from the entire main story as well as some side quests. If you have not yet completed the main story of Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker aka Patch 6.0, be cautious here.
Rank 5: Zenos yae Galvus
Zenos, the son of the Garlean Emperor Varis zos Galvus, makes his debut in Stormblood. At first, he is just a brutal, unjust ruler in search of the next exciting fight. When the Warrior of Light finally defeats him, he considers his life so fulfilled that he takes his own life.
However, his soul manages to cling to the material world: He reclaims his body, which is possessed by an Ascian, and continuously tries to provoke the Warrior of Light into a final, epic showdown in Endwalker.
He eventually gets that – at the end of the universe, where he previously helped in the fight against the Endsinger.
Zenos is already an absolute powerhouse in Stormblood: He masterfully wields his three katanas, always seeking the next powerful opponent – no one can match him. Additionally, his soul can possess other bodies, as he proves on his journey back into his own flesh.
In Endwalker, he also shows that he skillfully wields the scythe and offers the Warrior of Light a perfect final exchange, which he narrowly loses.

Rank 4: Julyan Manderville
This placement may surprise some, as Julyan Manderville is not a character that appears in the main story. Very different from her husband: Godbert Manderville, the owner of the Gold Saucer. Julyan plays an important role in the quests around her son Hildibrand.
As a loyal wife, cook, and mother, she seems quite harmless at first glance. However, the woman is an incredibly powerful pan-swinger!
Hildibrand and Godbert are extremely muscular men with bodies made of steel. Julyan Manderville, however, adds a crown to the whole: When she gets angry, a dark aura envelops her body, and her eyes glow red!
In wise foresight, her husband and son usually retreat, and even the Warrior of Light takes cover. Something the Warrior does not do against any other opponent – not even against Zenos. Julyan must be correspondingly powerful.
Unfortunately, we have never truly experienced Julyan in battle. However, she managed to send her son flying with just one hit from the frying pan from the East of Eorzea to Kugane. Just imagine what she can do when she means business.
A well-deserved fourth place. The top 3 can be found on the second page.
