A user on reddit analyzed the data of 1280 PS4 players. With the data, he compiled a list showing which PS4 games were particularly popular among this group of core gamers in May 2020. And compared to April 2020, quite a bit has changed.
Where does the data come from? The data is not official information from Sony. The reddit user s0vs0v collected the data and explains in his post where it comes from:
- You add “ps-timetracker” to your PSN friends list. This may take a moment.
- Once a day you receive a PSN message containing the day’s statistics.
- At the end of the month, the user combines all this data into a large table.

Large Friends List Provides Interesting Data for PS4
What data was analyzed? The user collected various data about the games. However, the data is only based on PlayStation 4. This includes:
- the name of the game
- how many hours the games were played by the friends list
- the number of players on the friends list who played the game during the period
- how many gaming sessions were started
- how much time players spent on average per gaming session
How much data was analyzed in total? The data in May 2020 comes from 1280 players (for comparison: there were 924 in April 2020).
The leaderboard features the 100 titles that were played the most on PS4 by these players in May 2020.
Who is behind the data? Every player can contribute to the data with their play times, as there are no criteria for who gets added to the friends list. Nevertheless, based on the high playtime, one can assume that they are more likely to be active players rather than casual gamers who regularly play their favorite games.

5th Place – Destiny 2

What is Destiny 2? Destiny 2 is a first-person shooter. It combines looter shooter, RPG, and especially social aspects. And the best part is: Destiny 2 is free to play.
What has happened in the game recently? Destiny had its last weekly reset for Season 10 before Season 11 starts soon. Many players are using this time, as some content will disappear from Destiny 2 at the end of Season 10. The year 2020 could still be quite exciting in Destiny 2.
In the meantime, Bungie has introduced a feature that many guardians do not like: Items have an expiration date, beyond which they can no longer be leveled.
