On reddit, a PS4 player analyzed the data of around 700 players on PlayStation 4. With this data, he created a list of the PS4 games that were particularly popular with this group of core gamers in March 2020: The top 5 positions are occupied solely by multiplayer online games, especially shooters.
Where does the data come from? The data is not official data from Sony. The reddit user s0vs0v collected the data and explains in his post where it originates from:
- You add “ps-timetracker” to your PSN friends list. This can take a moment.
- Once a day, you receive a PSN message containing the day’s statistics.
- At the end of the month, the user combines all this data into a large table.
Large friends list provides interesting data for PS4
What data was evaluated? The user collected various data about the games. However, the data is based solely on PlayStation 4. It includes:
- the name of the game
- how many hours the games were played by the friends list
- the number of players on the friends list who played the game during the period
- how many game sessions were started
- how much time players spent on average per game session.
How much data was evaluated in total? The data comes from 703 players.
- The data thus represents a group of particularly active players and not the general user base that also plays on PS4.
The leaderboard contains the 100 titles that were played the most on PS4 by these players in March 2020.
