The Anime of Detective Conan has now exceeded 1,000 episodes, where the little detective solves various cases. Among them are numerous puzzles that sometimes even advance the story or strengthen the relationships between characters. MeinMMO has selected 5 exciting cases that have kept us glued to the couch.
What were the selection criteria for the episodes? The episodes included in this list fulfill one or more of the following criteria:
- There are elaborate puzzles that have made us think hard
- Exciting action scenes are the focus
- Several characters reveal a deeper bond with each other than before
- The cases advance the story and involve multiple interconnected episodes
For numbering the individual episodes, we followed the counting method of the German version. In Japan, some episodes were combined, which have been split here. Therefore, there may be discrepancies between the two versions. We have added the Japanese counting in parentheses behind, in case it differs from the German.
Direct Confrontation: Two Mysteries on a Full Moon Night

What happened in this case? Kogoro Mori receives an invitation to a cruise where a Halloween party is to be held. The program is known for hiring some guests as actors for the spectacle.
Conan also receives such an invitation, but from Vermouth, an agent of the Black Organization. She knows that Conan Edogawa is actually Shinichi Kudo. Thus, Conan follows the invitation and ends up at a party where the host is shot with a real crossbow.
Meanwhile, Ai Haibara, who has been shrunk like Conan, is struggling with an illness. She is picked up by Jodie, an FBI agent, to be kept safe. However, they are pursued by Vermouth. There are several showdowns and twists, where even Conan gets kidnapped.
What is special about it? The revelation of Vermouth’s identity and the encounter with Jodie are the highlights of the case. It turns out that Vermouth has been leading a double life. In addition, there are further revelations and twists that make the episodes so interesting. Furthermore, there is a beautiful moment with Ran, who throws herself protectively in front of Jodie and protects her with her life.
The transformation of Vermouth from a villain to a kind-hearted person is also a great motif of the episodes. She could not shoot Ran because Ran and Shinichi saved her a long time ago. In the end, she even keeps Conan’s true identity from the Black Organization.
