In the dark world of Game of Thrones, death is never far away. It is no coincidence that the series is notorious for its brutality. But which character is actually the most dangerous and has the most victims on their conscience?
What kind of ranking is that? In Game of Thrones, there is an abundance of dangerous characters of all kinds. Some are skilled swordsmen, others are cunning assassins or political intrigues. They are all lethal.
In order to compare which character is the most dangerous, we look at the number of their victims. The Washington Post published a comprehensive statistic on all 6887 deaths in Game of Thrones in 2019.
A death was counted only if:
- The death is explicitly shown in the series
- The death is not directly shown but occurs very clearly after a certain scene
- The death is not shown but is a very prominent part of the storyline
Of course, the numbers are not 100 percent accurate. In action-packed battle scenes, for example, it is more difficult to determine the exact death toll. It even gets more complicated with dragons that can literally burn entire groups of people with one breath.
Rank 5: Jon Snow
In the last place of this ranking is Jon Snow. Even though he knows little, he has 112 deaths on his conscience. The main reason for this is his skillful use of Longclaw, his sword made of Valyrian steel.
Since childhood, Jon has trained almost daily for battle. First with the sword master of the Starks, then with the training of the Night’s Watch. With his skills, he manages to survive even in the dangerous North beyond the Wall.
He has most of his kills fittingly in the episode Beyond the Wall
(Season 7, Episode 6). Jon and his companions are on an expedition in the North to capture a wight. They are attacked by an army of wights, of which Jon can eliminate 42. Admittedly, wights were already dead. But they die again, which is why they were included in the statistics.
Rank 4: Cersei Lannister
Cersei Lannister might not be suspected on this list at first glance. After all, she is not a classic fighter. She prefers to act in the background and spin political intrigues. Nevertheless, she has killed 199 people.
Almost all of these deaths come from a single scene: the explosion of the Great Sept of Baelor (Season 6, Episode 10). There was supposed to be a trial against Cersei there. But she does not appear. Instead, she uses the highly explosive wildfire that the mad king stored in the catacombs beneath King’s Landing and blows up the Sept. In doing so, she kills several of her rivals, including Margaery Tyrell and the High Sparrow
