Rank 4 – Final Fantasy XIV
Setting: Fantasy | Developer: Square Enix | Platform: PC, Xbox, PlayStation | Release Date: September 30, 2010 | Model: Buy2Play with subscription and free trial
Final Fantasy XIV started in 2010 with a version that was not well received by players. However, after a complete restart in 2013, the MMORPG has developed into one of the most popular games ever. Year after year, content and game systems improved, and now there are even four major expansions. In July 2024, the fifth one will start with Dawntrail.
Today, you can enjoy dozens of hours of story, plenty of areas, challenging dungeons and raids, as well as a robust crafting system. Especially fans of other Final Fantasy installments will find joy, as the imaginative world is filled with familiar characters, Easter eggs, and Chocobos.
However, MMORPG veterans should not underestimate the game. With its numerous races and jobs – which are essentially classes you can switch and level with any character – you have a choice of various playstyles. With these, you can learn challenging rotations to later fight for the best loot in raids.
How does it stand on Twitch? In the last 30 days, Final Fantasy XIV had:
- On average 6,024 viewers (Rank 55 of all games)
- 4,337,642 watched hours
- On average 423 active streamers
The fact that the Square MMORPG made it into the top 5 this time can be attributed to both the struggling competition and the excitement many Eorzea heroes have for the soon-to-launch expansion.
What’s worth watching? Similar to WoW, Final Fantasy XIV offers a varied array of content, activities, and challenges. Watching a group tackle the most challenging raids in the game is simply exciting.
Some viewers also want to pick up tips and tricks, such as for crafting, admire the coolest homes of other players, watch PvP matches, or participate remotely in community events like weddings. 10 things you should do in Final Fantasy XIV before Dawntrail releases
