Twitch is still the undisputed ruler of the streaming scene, bringing forth great personalities that excite hundreds of thousands of fans. The German creators are no less than their international counterparts and are reaching for the throne of the biggest streamers in the world. But who are actually the biggest streamers in Germany?
Note: This article is updated monthly.
Which streamers are these? The streamers we researched for this list are not randomly all male. We have created an additional list for the biggest female streamers.
The list was created based on specific criteria:
- Period of the last 30 days (as of: December 9, 2022)
- Commercial as well as event channels are excluded.
- The ranking is determined by the average number of viewers.
Position 5: Trymacs
- Streamer: Max “Trymacs” Stemmler
- Average viewers: 16,322
- Active since: June 14, 2014
- Channel: twitch.tv/Trymacs
Who is Trymacs? The 28-year-old Hamburg native had a rocket start: from mobile games Clash of Clans and Clash Royale to becoming one of the biggest streamers in Germany and worldwide.
On Twitch, he had already been active before his first YouTube video in 2016. Back then, it only attracted a small audience. Today, at peak times, hundreds of thousands watch him as he spends money on the latest update of Clash of Clans, opens FIFA packs ridiculously successfully, or simply holds a talk round with other streamers.
His special events are likely to have caused a massive push in reach. Many will remember the Pokémon card event from January 2021. Here, Trymacs, together with streamer colleague PapaPlatte, opened cards from special booster packs worth a total of 40,000 €. This stream alone attracted a total of 356,000 viewers, of which around 250,000 watched Trymacs alone.
What happened recently? Trymacs just returned from icy Finland, where he fought for survival in his own survival format “Nerd in the Dirt”. During his absence, he was represented in the mobile game Clash of Clans by his girlfriend. She apparently fulfilled this task to his satisfaction (via Trymacs).

Position 4: Gronkh
- Streamer: Erik “Gronkh” Range
- Average viewers: 17,758
- Active since: May 31, 2010

Who is Gronkh? Erik “Gronkh” Range became famous among the general public with Let’s Plays. This is a nearly extinct category of YouTube videos today, where the performers mostly upload unedited and commented gameplays.
To this day, Gronkh’s Minecraft project is among the classics in YouTube history in Germany. He uploaded over 1000 episodes of his first project. Range is also active as a livestreamer on Twitch, where he is among the biggest in Germany.
But Gronkh also makes waves outside of YouTube and Twitch. Those who have seen the film Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse may recognize the voice of King-Pin: that was Gronkh! Range lent his voice to several other characters in the film (via Synchronkartei.de).
What happened recently? Gronkh, together with the gaming group PietSmiet and some other German influencers, hosted the 8th edition of the charity event Friendly Fire. Despite the currently difficult times for many, over 1 million euros in donations were collected.

Position 3: eliasn97
- Streamer: Elias “eliasn97” Nerlich
- Average viewers: 23,724
- Active since: July 15, 2018
- Channel: twitch.tv/eliasn97
Who is eliasn97? Elias began his career in esports. His game was FIFA and he rocked it. eliasn97 played among others for the football club Hertha BSC, but turned his back on it some time ago to dedicate himself to his own project.
The streamer spends most of his time on Twitch, where he not only plays FIFA with his fans. While FIFA remains in the foreground: since the early access release of FIFA 22, his average number of viewers has quadrupled.
They have increased from around 15,000 concurrent viewers to 70,000. Meanwhile, eliasn97 has switched to FIFA 23, and the number has stabilized at around 35,000 concurrent viewers.
What happened recently? Things aren’t going so well for Elias right now. Not only was he kicked off the first place of this list, but he also faced harsh criticism for his new sponsor Spitch. Elias has now released a statement in which he acknowledges Spitch and threatened critics with legal action (via Twitter).

Position 2: MontanaBlack

Who is MontanaBlack? Thanks to his reality talk videos about his difficult youth, which he has uploaded on YouTube, MontanaBlack has become extremely popular. Drugs and theft on one side, loving grandparents on the other.
Everything started in his grandparents’ attic, and now he gives back a lot to Grandma and Grandpa. For example, he has repaid his grandfather about 4,000 € after stealing money from him many years ago.
Marcel Eris, on the other hand, finds it easy to accumulate money, because as MontanaBlack, he is among the highest-earning Twitch streamers in the world. This was also confirmed by a major Twitch leak that published the earnings of the top 100 streamers.
Not only can he boast about his finances, but his reach is impressive as well, boasting 4.7 million followers. On average, around 25,710 fans watch him play FIFA 23 or during Just Chatting.
What happened recently? MontanaBlack streamed as little in November as he last did in June 2021. Instead, he opts for rarer but somewhat elaborate IRL streams, for example from the Wildpark Schwarze Berge or from the Hamburg Dom.

Position 1: TheRealKnossi

- Average viewers: 29,204
- Active since: September 2014

Who is Knossi? Knossi is an entertainer through and through and wanted to be on television since childhood. There he appeared as a participant in various formats from ProSieben, Sat 1, and RTL II. Knossi also hosted various poker tournament series.
Since 2014, Knossi has also been seen regularly on the streaming platform Twitch. There he was extremely successful with gambling content and for a time even the largest streamer worldwide. However, he has since distanced himself from that.
Instead, Knossi now mainly showcases talk formats and reactions. He is currently also featured as a participant in the survival show 7 vs. Wild on YouTube. This along with his participation in the Wok WM 2022 on ProSieben is likely to have strengthened his placement in this list.
What happened recently? In a recent episode of 7 vs. Wild, Knossi expressed his frustration about the current state of traditional television. The streamer seems to care deeply about television but fears it cannot compete against online media.
