The Day Deathwing Came
When you ask people about the funniest quests in World of Warcraft, this quest line from the Barrens is often mentioned. This is mainly because this short series will undoubtedly stick in the memory of all players.
The Barrens was severely affected by Deathwing during the “Cataclysm” expansion. Large swathes of destruction run through the area, sand is partially melted, and in many places, it still glows days and weeks later.
At a small campfire, you find a group of Orcs, Gnomes, and Dwarves that you can question about the incidents – as they were all right there when Deathwing devastated the area. Even better: They heroically confronted Deathwing and made sure he could no longer cause harm.
In the quest line, you then replay the experiences of the three heroes.
The Dwarf tells that he became so furious due to Deathwing that he smashed the many earth elementals that appeared from the tremor. Then, with his bare hands, he destroyed a stone wall and struck Deathwing so hard in the face that he was immediately defeated.
The Gnome, of course, cannot let that stand. He then tells the true story. Since Deathwing is a dragon and hides high in the clouds, the Gnome had to find another solution. Through his inventions, he made himself bigger and bigger until he was so tall that he reached into the clouds. There, he grabbed Deathwing and simply tossed him away.
The Orc does not accept this version and recounts the really true story. When Deathwing came, he knew he had to do something. Surrounded by his “hot chicks”, he hopped onto his motorcycle, took one of them with him, and drove into battle. He ran over several elementals when he remembered that his motorcycle could fly – so he flew up to Deathwing to run him over too.
At that point, the quest gets a little out of hand, and the other two quest givers chime in to add their own tales.
All three are apparently a little drunk and spend the whole day telling each other stories of their supposed heroic deeds.
