The MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online has gained a lot of content in recent years. In addition to new areas and quests, new features have also been added to the game. But which feature is the best among them and is best received by the community? We present to you the 5 best features of recent years.
What is meant by feature? This refers to new content that enhances the gaming experience in ESO. Excluded are quests and new areas. It is more about functional expansions.
Rank 5: Replies in the messaging system
A really small, but nice and absolutely overdue feature in ESO. Only with Update 31 Waking Flame did the reply option for messages come into play. This is not referring to the normal chat, but to the messaging inbox (#). Until now, players had to use add-ons for this function. However, this was only possible for PC players.
Rank 4: Duration on the action bar
Another small, but very overdue feature came with Update 30 Blackwood: Visible times for the duration of skills on the action bar. This change was also inspired by an add-on. To be precise, by the add-on “Action Duration Reminder“.
Nonetheless, this feature still needs improvement, as it doesn’t work optimally here and there. Nevertheless, this is an important step towards improving the game. Especially the so-called “Quality of Life” add-ons are popular among PC players and could be very well integrated into the base game.
In the past, a trend has emerged that is very well received by the community. In addition to improving the game, this also creates a kind of equality among console players, who have no way to use additional add-ons, with PC users.
This point is strongly supported by both console and PC users.
Rank 3: Help with daily crafting quests
If you now take on the daily crafting quests, you can produce the required items much faster and without much checking. For PC users, there have long been add-ons like Dolgubon’s Lazy Writ Creator that automatically produce the items needed for the daily quests.
The feature has adopted some aspects. While the items are not produced automatically, the correct items are directly suggested to you, so that you only need to press “Craft” (R).
Rank 2: The Item Set Collection aka “the sticker book”
With the Update 28 Markarth, the set collection was introduced in 2020. This collection allows players to reconstruct collected equipment pieces or weapons, i.e. to craft them themselves. Once an item from an item set is bound, it can be found in the collection.
The costs depend on the completeness of an item set and vary between 75 to 25 transmutation crystals. Changing or transmuting an item consistently costs 50 transmutation crystals. Depending on the completeness of a set, it should be weighed what is cheaper.
What makes the set collection so special? Before the collection existed, players were more or less forced to keep everything somehow. Especially weapons that tend to be lost when needed while farming. Now it is enough to have added the items to the collection once, as they can be crafted again at any time.
This saves chaos in the bank and the storage chests and now finally provides plenty of space to store other items.
Who is the collection particularly useful for? For every player, whether beginner or veteran. Space in the inventory facilitates smooth gameplay in any situation and is independent of gaming experience.
Rank 1: The Antiquities System
The Antiquities System was introduced with Update 26 Greymoor, one of the major chapters in the game. It is unique in its form and stands out from many other features.
What makes the Antiquities System so special? It can be considered a kind of mini-game in the MMORPG. There are two associated skill lines and a completely new type of items. These items are called “Mythic Items” and are particularly powerful in comparison. Furthermore, they already provide a larger bonus as a single piece.
Who is the collection particularly useful for? Actually for every player. Because in addition to housing items, there are also crafting styles and Mythic Items. Alongside the rewards, surveying and excavation themselves are also well received by many players and can be considered a kind of mini-game.
What makes the Antiquities System our number 1? Admittedly, it was quite difficult to decide between the Antiquities System and the Item Set Collection. What ultimately led to this result: The Antiquities System is the more comprehensive feature and receives new and relevant content through new Mythic Items in upcoming patches.
In the case of the Item Set Collection, new sets are also added, but it is rather a passive feature that does not receive the form of new content like the Antiquities System.
