The Bane – The Most Annoying Weapon in the World (Borderlands 2)
What kind of weapon is this? This weapon is a submachine gun. It originates from the legendary looter shooter Borderlands 2 and anyone who has played the game should have encountered this weapon.
When you finally hold it in your hands after an ominous quest, the joy is immense.
The weapon has absurdly good stats and promises a lot of fun while shooting and mowing down entire hordes of crazy psychos.
But what a horror, what despair awaits you when you finally try out the weapon!
What makes it so crazy? When you fire “The Bane”, you quickly realize why the weapon is called “The Bane” because it refers to your nerves.
The weapon actually speaks, and when you shoot, it makes a truly annoying noise. The weapon basically says “Yeah” with every shot, but in such rapid succession that it’s incredibly annoying and hard to tolerate.
Additionally, the weapon also randomly imitates various shooting sounds and loudly yells “Reload!” and similar phrases when you run out of ammo.
But well, you can always turn off the sound, right? Then the annoying shooting piece is silent, right?
No way! The weapon continues to wail at full volume even if you set the in-game sound to 0! You can’t escape “The Bane” that easily.
Even those who can somehow endure all these shrill sounds will ultimately come to a bitter end. Because your movement speed is massively reduced when you are equipped with the weapon, and you crawl through the bushes at a miserable snail’s pace.
This makes The Bane almost completely useless in the game’s battles. Only as a passenger on a vehicle does the debuff not apply, and you can actually use the weapon effectively there. If only it weren’t for the sound…
Fun Fact: The annoying voice belongs to voice actress Ashly Burch, who voices the crazy Tiny Tina in Borderlands 2, 3, and the new Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
How do you get this crazy gun? You get The Bane as a “reward” for a quest of the same name. You receive the mission in Sanctuary after completing the quest “The Once and Future Slab”.
Throughout the quest, you follow the previous owners of the weapon, all of whom have succumbed to madness and met a terrible end.
