The old year is now over and the new one is already at the starting blocks. And also in Pokémon GO, 2022 surely holds many great events, Pokémon, bonuses, and features. We at MeinMMO have looked at what trainers wish for the future in the game and show it to you.
What is it about? Pokémon GO has given you many great monsters, bonuses, and features in 2021. Be it the release of Hoopa or the improvement of the Pokédex.
But many trainers are also wishing for new features, monsters, and special characteristics for 2022. We show you which 5 major wishes the trainers have that would make the game even better.
Ingame Chat
For several years now, trainers in Pokémon GO have had a keen desire for an ingame chat. The reason for this wish is better communication among trainers in the game. Currently, social networks like Facebook or Twitter, as well as instant messengers like WhatsApp or Discord, are often used for coordination.
In the game itself, there are currently no possibilities to contact each other, which would be especially helpful for coordinating joint raids or trading as lucky friends.
What are the chances of an ingame chat?
Although there were first hints from Niantic in June of this year and many trainers hoped that the long-awaited ingame chat would finally come, which the game so desperately needs, nothing has happened so far.
Some trainers suspect that Niantic has concerns regarding child and youth protection (via reddit.com). This criticism is not unfounded, as many children also play Pokémon GO.
Nevertheless, an ingame chat would make the game significantly better. Therefore, one can only hope that Niantic finds alternative ways to possibly establish such a feature in the game in 2022.
Perhaps the suggestion from reddit user Mega_Vaporeon could be taken up, who could imagine that contact through an ingame chat could be restricted on special children’s accounts (via reddit.com).
GO Button for Raids
Another important wish that trainers in Pokémon GO have been expressing for some time is a so-called “GO Button” in the raid lobby. In particular, the long waiting time before the actual start of the raid is criticized. This currently takes 120 seconds.
While one would like to wait for as many participants as possible in level 5 or Mega raids to complete the raid faster, trainers in the easier raids sometimes fight alone. Then it is rather annoying to have to wait the full time until the start.
Here, trainers see the solution in a special button that activates the raid. Thus, they could activate this start button as soon as they are ready for battle, and it would start without a longer wait. Many players had hoped for this function with the raid update in June and believe that Niantic has missed an opportunity.
Perhaps Niantic will be tempted in 2022 to introduce such a “GO Button” in Pokémon GO and thus fulfill a major wish of many trainers. However, there are currently no known plans for this.
Release of Kecleon
This wish is not about a special feature for the game, but rather the last missing Pokémon from the Hoenn region: Kecleon. The normal-type Pokémon, which visually resembles a chameleon, has been demanded by many players in Pokémon GO for a long time.
The main reason for this is the Pokédex entry. This is necessary to receive the Platinum Medal for the Hoenn region. Kecleon itself is not particularly strong, but it has a special ability. Like a chameleon, it can adapt its color to its surroundings, and only its zig-zag pattern on its belly remains visible.
Niantic addressed this Pokémon a few weeks ago in an interview with Eurogamer and stated that they are working on Kecleon’s debut (via eurogamer.net).
Michael Sterenka (Director, Global Product Marketing) also explained that this monster is special due to its ability and therefore they want a release that does justice to Kecleon.
Even if you may have to wait a while, let’s continue to hope that it may finally be time in 2022 and you can catch Kecleon.
Trading from a distance
Of course, trading in the community is also an important topic. Many trainers now have numerous friends living in different regions around the world due to live events or with the help of social networks.
Packages are often sent daily to eventually achieve the status of “Best Friend.” If regular interactions are continued, then the lucky friends status can be reached.
This means you can then trade a monster that will definitely become a lucky Pokémon, and thus has not so bad stats. Here at MeinMMO we explain to you exactly how to become lucky friends.
However, since these friends can live far away and you may never see them (again) in reality, trading is currently not possible. For this reason, many players demand what has existed in the main series for decades: a corresponding function in the game that makes trading from a distance possible.
This, according to the reddit community, would not even have to be permanently available or apply to all trading actions. Many trainers could also imagine that there would be certain events or tasks that would allow trading over unlimited distances (via reddit.com).
Alternatively, some trainers, such as Kdog0073, have also previously suggested the introduction of a kind of “remote trading passes” that could be obtained, for example, if you walk at least 50 km in a week (via reddit.com). However, it remains to be seen how Niantic will come up with a solution for this.
Skipping animations
The processes considered most annoying by many players in the game are the constant animations. However, many of these animations cannot simply be skipped, and trainers have to watch them patiently. One of these appears when developing Pokémon.
In order not to constantly lose valuable game time watching the uninteresting animations, trainers have been demanding the ability to skip these sequences for a long time. Even though Niantic recently released an update where opening eggs is now faster, many players still hope for such a function.
As wolfdizz on reddit wrote: “Unfortunately, we cannot skip the evolution animation.” And shaliozero agrees: “I would still prefer to completely close and skip these screens with a single press of the back button.”
So far, there is no official information that such a function is planned in Pokémon GO. So one can only hope that Niantic will heed the community’s wishes in 2022 and allow animations to be skipped in the future.
What did you think was really cool in the game in 2021? And what things do you wish for 2022 in Pokémon GO? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments here on MeinMMO and exchange ideas with other trainers.
