PvP is an essential element for a portion of MMORPG fans. But in which games do you experience the best battles? We at MeinMMO will tell you.
What criteria were used to create this list? The focus of the list is on the games that offer the best and most entertaining PvP overall. We looked at diverse offerings – small-scale, arenas, battlegrounds, and large-scale battles – as well as the general population of the titles.
Because PvP games without a healthy player base aren’t as enjoyable.

What kind of game is this? Albion Online is a sandbox MMORPG from Germany that uses an isometric perspective. You create your character without choosing a fixed class. Instead, your equipment and your skills determine which playstyle you follow.
Your three attacks are mapped to the Q, W, and E keys, determined by your weapon. You gain additional skills from chest pieces, headgear, and boots. This gives you numerous combination possibilities. Furthermore, there is a skill tree called the Destiny Board, through which you can unlock new abilities and equipment levels.
You wander through the vast fantasy world, find your own way, and decide for yourself whether you want to bash other players or monsters. Crafting and the economy also play an important role. Here, you should view gear more as a resource – like a potion. Because in PvP, you can lose everything.
It is also positive that you can now play the full PC MMORPG with crossplay on your smartphone.
What does it do well in PvP? Albion Online offers a broad system of PvP content. In the open world, there are areas marked with yellow, red, or black markers:
- In yellow areas, consensual PvP exists. When activated, you can fight other players.
- In red areas, PvP is active. Those who do not flag themselves can still be killed and lose equipment. However, there are minor consequences for the attacker.
- In black areas, there is always full loot PvP.
- Additionally, there are specific dungeons where PvP also exists.
The PvP system is expanded through battles over outposts. You can capture towers in the areas, but also entire cities.
If you prefer structured PvP, you can compete in arenas in 5v5 or 20v20 matches.
What does it do poorly in PvP? Equipment plays an important role. Due to full loot, you have to decide whether to venture into the world with your best gear or to save it for an event with your guild. The constant loss is something that not everyone enjoys.
It is also unfortunate that the Crystal League championship is being discontinued. This was a PvP tournament that was livestreamed with a shoutcast. It will take place for the last time in September 2023.
Can I have fun as a PvE player too? Yes, there are safe zones, dungeons without PvP, housing, and a very robust crafting system. However, you will eventually be forced into PvP areas, such as when you want to obtain rare materials or earn a lot of gold.
