What is it about? Far Cry 5 takes place in the USA and revolves around the fictional town of Hope County. You take on the role of a sheriff who must deal with a local cult. This cult seeks to control the town and the surrounding land. You will have to rely on a large selection of weapons and other gadgets.
Far Cry: New Dawn continues the story of the fifth installment, taking place 17 years later. While it is again based in the same area, this time it’s a post-apocalyptic setting. The world has collapsed, and atomic bombs have caused significant damage. The fight revolves around resources.

How multiplayer works: Both games are heavily focused on the story that leads through a massive open world. You can achieve everything together with another player. However, progress counts only for one player; therefore, you theoretically have to play everything twice if you plan a joint run.

How is the game world structured? The area around Hope County is characterized by wide fields, mountains, and forests. There are countless corners to explore, secrets to discover, enemy camps to raid, and equipment to collect.
Both games are similar in this regard; New Dawn can be seen as a standalone add-on to Far Cry 5. However, New Dawn has integrated a loot system similar to the one known from shooters like The Division.

This is the special appeal of the games: For those seeking a huge open-world playground, enjoying fun shooter mechanics and liking quirky characters, you can’t go wrong with Far Cry 5 and New Dawn. Both games offer numerous hours of shooting, collecting, and story in a vast, varied game world.
