What is it about? At Hope’s Peak Academy, only the best students of their field are admitted. The protagonist Makoto Naegi only enters the elite school of Japan through pure luck as the ultimate lucky student.
As he enters the building with his classmates, they become unconscious and find themselves in a barricaded fortress. A teddy bear named Monokuma initiates a deadly game. Anyone who wants to leave the school must murder a classmate without getting caught. After each murder, there is a trial, and the students must identify the murderer.
Why can it only be watched once? Each murder case is a complex puzzle with red herrings, alibis, and murder weapons. The anime consists of solving how the murder occurred in each episode and, most importantly, who the perpetrator was.
Furthermore, there is a revelation at the end of how this strange scenario really came to be. Once you know all these things as a viewer, rewatching loses its appeal.
