What is it about? In modern Tokyo, the self-proclaimed scientist Okabe Rintarou works with 2 friends in an improvised future gadget lab. They develop a microwave capable of sending text messages into the past.
The messages have the ability to change the present. Initially, they just involve small things like a lottery win or a changed menu. However, over time, larger problems begin to arise, and Okabe realizes that he is not the only one tampering with time.
Why can it only be watched once? Similar to Attack on Titan, the anime switches genres midway through the series. Initially, the series feels like a “slice of life” comedy, and you wonder if anything serious will happen at all. But with a certain event, the seriousness of the anime changes.
The chaos with the timelines also feels threatening only during the first viewing. You genuinely empathize with Okabe and want to offer him a way out. The only thing worth watching again is the 1st episode, as the brilliant ending of the anime directly connects with the very first episode.
