Just before the release, there is more new input about Monster Hunter Wilds. In an extensive launch trailer, hunters are primed for the upcoming hunts. The last Apex monster is revealed, along with some details you should definitely know.
What does the trailer show? The launch trailer introduces you to the story and areas of the game. It shows the hunter facing various monsters in battle, many of which are shown in action for the first time.
In addition to sequences from the story, gameplay scenes from the battles are shown, along with special abilities of the individual monsters. Multiplayer elements and some weapon mechanics are also presented.
With all that content, important parts can quickly get lost. Therefore, we have put together a brief overview of the things you absolutely need to know about the trailer.

The new Apex monster Jin Dahaad
The most important revelation is the new Apex monster Jon Dahaad. Apex monsters are particularly powerful monsters that live as a kind of “ruler” in an area and provide particularly high-quality materials.
He is the fourth and last Apex monster in the series and resides in the Ice Shard Cliffs. The first noticeable thing is his eerie and gigantic size. His body blends perfectly into the surroundings due to its shape and color. He controls ice and uses it against his hunters.

A new Rathalos variant
Among the many battles against various monsters seen in the trailer, there is also a brief scene that hints at a new variant of the Rathalos monster. The sequence starts in the trailer at 1:19 (via YouTube).
There you see a Rathalos that appears gray and is marked with purple glowing patterns. You can see similar markings if you jump to the point at 2:42 (via YouTube). There, the flagship monster Arkveld also has such markings. What they mean and what effects they have on the monsters can only be speculated about at this point.
Monsters in action for the first time
Many of the announced monsters have already been seen in action. Some of them have been rare so far. Those who watch closely in the trailer can spot monsters that we haven’t seen in this form before.
For example, the trailer shows Gore Magala in action for the first time in Monster Hunter Wilds. So it’s worth keeping your eyes open between the scenes. This way, you can get a closer look at some attacks and features of the monsters that await you in the trailer.
Roadmap with the return of a community favorite
At the end of the trailer, the return of an absolute community favorite is announced: Mizutsune. Starting at minute 3:07 (via YouTube), you can see the clip with him. In it, you see him sneaking through the forest and ambushing a Doshaguma.
Mizutsune will be added to the game in a free content update in Spring 2025. Along with him, further updates and event quests will be introduced.
A second free content update is planned for Summer 2025. This will also add a new monster and several event quests.
