Where do the games come from? We at MeinMMO asked you which MMOs you are particularly looking forward to in 2020. We have already presented to you the results of the survey. Now, the focus is again strongly on the titles you selected in the Top 3, conveniently all of which are MMORPGs.
It is also exciting that you chose two of the three games as early as the beginning of 2019 among the most anticipated MMORPGs of 2019.

What is Ashes of Creation? Ashes of Creation is one of the great MMORPG hopes currently in development. It aims to address all player types and offers a lot of long-term motivation through some sandbox content. It emphasizes:
- Many PvE contents in the form of dungeons and quests.
- A node system where areas level up and can turn small tent camps into huge metropolises.
- PvP, where players can fight for cities and fortresses in the game.
- Many social contents, like a mayor system or alliances between cities.
- Player housing.
- And a combat system that is meant to be a hybrid of action and tab-targeting.
What has been the development history so far? The game director Steven Sharif made a fortune early on. With this, he wanted to produce his own MMORPG.
However, a Kickstarter campaign was launched in May 2017 that raised $3.2 million. Moreover, founder packages were quickly sold.
With the large amounts of funding, there were rapid advancements in development:
- In 2018, it was therefore announced that the release for Ashes of Creation would be planned for 2019, even without a playable version having been released.
- By the end of 2018, Ashes of Creation Apocalypse was supposed to appear as an independent and public game in place of the first alpha.
- However, not enough staff was found for Intrepid Studios.
- Additionally, the release of Apocalypse failed.
- At the beginning of 2019, Alpha 1 was postponed indefinitely. The same goes for the release.
However, by the end of 2019, there was good news again. The first alpha is supposed to commence in 2020, which will even be without an NDA. So you can look forward to new information about Ashes of Creation.
The potential of Ashes of Creation is huge
What is Ashes of Creation at best? At best, Ashes of Creation is everything MMORPG players hope for. It offers an open world, emphasizes communication between players, and contains both PvP and PvE content.
In addition, it features a hybrid combat system and impressive graphics. So there should be something for every MMORPG fan.
What is Ashes of Creation at worst? At worst, the ideas prove to be unfeasible, forcing Ashes of Creation to discard many of its systems.
It is also possible that the open PvP will negatively impact the player base and the enjoyment of PvE fans. After all, it can always happen that you are attacked by strangers.
When can you play Ashes of Creation? So far, there is no release date for the MMO. However, you can already play the PvP spin-off Apocalypse.
Currently, this is a Battle Royale game, but it is supposed to be expanded with new game modes, including fortress battles.
