What kind of game is this? Redfall is a quirky co-op shooter. The developer is Arkane, known for games like Dishonored. Since the game is published by Bethesda, it will also be available for free in Microsoft’s GamePass at release in Summer 2022.
In Redfall, you shoot your way through the namesake small town in Massachusetts. An experiment apparently went wrong, which unleashed vampires. They are also supported by a local cult. So you have regular, human enemies too.
As a classic co-op shooter, you play here in a team of up to 4 players and you blast your way through the vampires and their minions in the open world. Along the way, you find more loot and level up your heroes.
What are the special features? A standout feature of Redfall seems to be the humor. The trailer for the game shows a quirky battle of the heroes against a master vampire and his entourage. Despite the dark premise, it is tackled with coarse humor.
Thus, the vampire who ends up in a smoothie is said to taste like “blood, dust, and strawberries.” Moreover, one of the heroines does not want to return to normality, as her student loan debts are waiting for her.
Redfall does not take itself too seriously and reminds one with its style and humor of the quirky shooter Borderlands.
Another feature of Redfall is the playable heroes. Your avatars are not just placeholders; they have a name, a story, and unique abilities. The heroes we know are:
