Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning
| Release Date | September 18, 2008 |
| Developer | Mythic Entertainment |
| Website | Warhammer Online |

What did Warhammer Online offer? The MMORPG focused on PvP battles. Here, realm versus realm battles were the main highlight. Nonetheless, there were also classic PvE contents like crafting and quests.
It was the realm versus realm battles that distinguished Warhammer Online. Sieges, conquests, and large-scale battles in the dark Warhammer universe provided exciting challenges.
How did the MMORPG perform at release? Warhammer Online launched as a subscription game and received awards even before its release, including being labeled the “most anticipated game”. At release, over 1.2 million copies were sold.
However, just a few months later, player numbers dropped rapidly. Developer Mythic had to report a financial loss a year after release.
How does the game stand today? The operation of Warhammer Online was discontinued on December 18, 2013, as player numbers continued to decline and maintaining operations was no longer feasible.
Since June 14, 2014, however, the MMORPG can be played on the still active private server “Return of Reckoning”. The server is well received by fans, so much so that even its capacities had to be increased.
At times, almost 1,400 players are online simultaneously. This allows the battles of Warhammer Online to be experienced well again.
As you can see, not all of the big MMORPGs from 2008 managed to survive.
