In a survey on MeinMMO, you were able to select which upcoming MMORPGs you want to play this year. Here are the top 3.
2023 will be an exciting year for MMORPG fans, as some highly anticipated titles are coming to the market. For the genre, this year could mean a resurgence.
This was the question: We presented in the survey some of the most awaited titles for selection. You could choose which ones you will play. These MMORPGs were available as response options:
- Fractured
- Throne and Liberty
- Mad World: Age of Darkness
- War of Dragnarox
- Chainmonsters
- Blue Protocol
- Odin: Valhalla Rising
Additionally, “None of these” and “Another” were available as options.

The most votes went to the response “None of these”, accounting for 32% of the votes with over 2,000 votes. So, either you have given up on the genre or you are into MMORPGs that are already online.
Many of you also chose one or more of the MMORPGs – 3 of them are far ahead, which is why we want to take a closer look at them now.
Rank 3: Odin: Valhalla Rising

What kind of game is this? Odin: Valhalla Rising is a Korean MMORPG set in a world full of Vikings and Norse mythology. Well-known figures like Odin or Thor are supposed to appear in it, as well as the continents Midgard, Jötunheim, Nidawellir, and Albenheim.
You choose one of 4 classes: Rogue, Sorceress, Priest, or Warrior. Then you explore the open game world, which is supposed to offer many adventures. Climbing, swimming, riding, and even flying should be possible.
Dungeons are experienced within a classic Holy Trinity of DPS, Tank, and Healer.
Graphically, Odin: Valhalla Rising looks promising, but you can tell that the user interface is optimized for mobile. Also typical for mobile MMORPGs: There will be autoplay.

Who is it interesting for? The MMORPG is aimed at fans of mobile MMORPGs or PC players who have no problem with the corresponding UI. So if you are looking for an MMORPG that takes care of annoying content automatically, this is the right place.
Additionally, it is suitable due to its setting for friends of Norse mythology and Vikings.

Setting: Anime/Sci-Fi | Developer: Bandai Namco | Platform: PC, Playstation, Xbox | Release Date: Second half of 2023 | Model: Free2Play | Votes: 1,178 (19 %)
What kind of game is this? Blue Protocol is a theme park MMORPG with beautiful anime graphics. It is developed by Bandai Namco, who use Unreal Engine 4 for it. The publisher for us is Amazon.
You create a character and must travel to an unknown world to save your planet Regnas from destruction. You frequently undertake time travels.
Players can expect an action-packed combat system where you dodge, aim yourself, and execute combos. The focus is on PvE, as there will be no PvP. You complete solo content or dungeons for up to 6 players. In the later stages of the game, raids are also planned.
Equipment can drop, but that happens very rarely. Most of the time, you farm specific materials with which you then craft your equipment yourself. This is how the crafting system works.
Additionally, there are various pets and mounts called Imajinns.
Who is it interesting for? Blue Protocol is aimed at fans of anime MMORPGs who want to experience a deep story with exciting battles. If you play Genshin Impact or Tower of Fantasy, you should definitely take a look at this MMORPG.
Rank 1: Throne and Liberty

What kind of game is this? Throne and Liberty is the biggest hope on the MMORPG horizon for 2023. It focuses on an open world that you can explore and in which you can move in various ways – for example, by transforming into a water or flying animal. There should be no load screens.
Noteworthy are the detailed graphics and the action-packed combat system. So far, gameplay has mainly showcased huge battles for castles. These are supposed to play an important role, but the developers promise enough content for PvE players as well.
Throne and Liberty does not have fixed classes. Instead, it allows you to determine your playstyle with the weapons you equip. During combat, you can then switch between 2 sets, similar to New World.
Who is it interesting for? Throne and Liberty is aimed at fans of large MMORPGs who do not want to miss the next AAA title. If you are looking for action-packed battles with PvP and PvE and also value appealing graphics, you are definitely in the right place.
