Currently, anime fans have it pretty good. The last few years have brought a ton of great series, and 2024 is no exception. MeinMMO demon Cortyn takes a look at the 3 best series of the year – based on personal choice.

Oshi no Ko was already one of the best anime I have ever seen in 2023 – and the second season just adds a bit more.
Aqua and Ruby are the children of the long-ago murdered music star Ai and now in college age. They work part-time as actors or musicians and aspire to a career – but for very different reasons.
Ruby mainly wants to follow in her mother’s footsteps to become a famous idol and perform on the big stage one day.
The 3rd season will continue in February with the second half, but it is already clear that this season can at least convince as much as the previous two.

On the same night, exactly that happens – Ken is cursed by a ghost and loses parts of his body, while Momo is abducted by aliens for research and reproduction purposes. Both come into contact with entirely new powers that they will use to help each other.
In summary, this sounded to me like “clichéd anime nonsense” – but you couldn’t be more wrong. Dandadan creates an almost perfect mix of action, comedy and emotional moments that are sometimes even really oppressive or downright uncomfortable.
Nevertheless, this is one of those series where you absolutely want to know what happens next after each episode, and for me, the absolute surprise success of the year – which will fortunately continue in 2025 with a second season.
