The responsible parties of Aion Classic have released the first roadmap for the year 2025. In addition to fresh events and dungeons, you can also expect innovations that are well-intentioned but could eliminate an entire faction.
What are these dangerous innovations? In the first quarter of 2025, the populations of the servers Atreia and Tahabata will be merged on a completely new server of Aion Classic. Such a merge is always a double-edged sword for those affected.
While this tackles the declining player numbers, which can positively affect the cooperation and competition in an MMORPG (for example, regarding waiting times for group content), it also robs server communities, which have grown over the years, of a piece of their identity.
However, this is not what is currently worrying some players of Aion Classic. They are more concerned about the faction balance: The Elyos are clearly in the majority. Some players fear that this imbalance could worsen further with the server merge.
User daruniasjoy writes on YouTube: “The merge will kill the faction of the Asmodians. If you don’t have solid plans to address this issue, a merger will bring nothing of value.”
As part of the server merge, there will also be a class change event, during which you can permanently change your class once. eladiadc5814 hopes on YouTube that there will also be a chance to switch from the Elyos faction to the Asmodians, but definitely not the other way around: “Otherwise, it will be impossible to play.”

Major Update in the 2nd Quarter of 2025
What else does the roadmap reveal? In the first quarter of the year, events are predominantly on the agenda. The second quarter will be significantly more exciting when the anniversary party starts and update 3.7 brings new dungeon challenges. Here are the details:
- PvP with Wildcard: After much positive player feedback, the Wildcard event returns. It allows fans to select a skill from another class. This should make PvP gameplay less predictable and even more exciting.
- Bringer of Death Event: In this event, players must achieve a certain number of kills to earn glory and valuable rewards.
- Easter and Birthday Celebrations: Both Easter and the next anniversary of the MMORPG fall in April! Community events, tournaments, and of course fresh opportunities to collect equipment await you.
- Update 3.7: Two new dungeons, new items, and quality-of-life improvements are among the features of update 3.7. Further details will follow at a later time.
While the MMORPG classics Aion and Aion Classic continue to be expanded with new content, the MeinMMO editorial team is primarily looking forward to the release of the sequel, which is set to be released in the second half of 2025. Aion 2 focuses heavily on PvE and a business model similar to Throne and Liberty.
