Epic Games has now introduced the first gameplay enhancement for Fortnite with the new Season 6: the sound is supposed to provide attentive players with even more information about their surroundings. The improvement will come with the new update 6.0.
Season 6 also brings a major patch: As in previous months, the new season will also bring a “big” patch with a round version number.
This will be patch 6.0 for Fortnite, which is expected on Thursday afternoon, September 27. Then Season 6 in Fortnite will also start.
Sound should provide more information
Spatial sound is important: The first major improvement for Season 6 is based, according to Epic, on player feedback. The sound effects should be utilized even better for making tactical decisions.
The sounds with patch 6.0 are supposed to clarify,
- whether a player is running above or below their position – even when other sounds are audible
- whether a player is using the glider – this is now supposed to be heard from a greater distance
Further improvements planned to hear “flying players”
More is coming throughout the season: During the ongoing Season 6, that is in October and November, further changes to the sound system will be made.
Players should then be able to hear more clearly:
- when players fly through the air using bounce pads or shockwave grenades and land behind their own position – players should be able to discern from which direction such opponents are approaching
Additionally, Epic wants to fix some bugs that currently cause no sounds to be played in chaotic situations.
What else does Season 6 bring? There is currently still quite little known about that.
Since the cube fell into Loot Lake, it has been quite calm in Fortnite. However, one can assume that Epic still has a lot in store. Now “the hot phase” of the year begins. New games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Battlefield 5 are coming, Fortnite will have to impress in Season 6 to secure its position.
Big leaks like before are not present at the season’s end but this time. It will be exciting to see what else happens in the days leading up to Thursday. Currently, a bonus EXP event is ongoing in Fortnite.
