On May 25, the final test of the new MMORPG Tarisland began, which launches in China on June 19, 2024. The global release has now been announced.
When is Tarisland coming? As announced on the official website, Tarisland is set to launch worldwide on June 21, 2024. The MMORPG, often referred to as an alternative to WoW, will be available at launch for PC, Android, and iOS and will provide seamless cross-platform compatibility.
A new trailer was also released with the announcement, featuring a powerful boss. The Blight Dragon is likely just the beginning, as Tarisland aims to bring at least 60 boss fights per year.
Dual Classes, Dungeons, and Raids at Launch
What does Tarisland offer at launch? The MMORPG will have 9 classes available for players to choose from at launch. These will include classics of the genre such as Warrior, Mage, and Priest, each with unique abilities and two specializations.
At the start of Season 0, there will also be a dual class consisting of Mages and Paladins. More dual classes are set to be added gradually.
For PvP enthusiasts, there will be an arena and other PvP modes available at launch. Those who prefer PvE can look forward to five dungeons, eight boss raids for 10 players, and several PvE modes during Season 0. Each dungeon will have three difficulty levels to cater to players with different preferences.
Before the release, there will also be a series of pre-launch events, including an event for guild pre-registration.
What significance does Tarisland have? Tarisland is considered the first major MMORPG to appear since the western release of Lost Ark in February 2022. Other major hopes for the genre, such as Throne and Liberty and Blue Protocol, were supposed to launch last year but stumbled even before the international release.
However, Tarisland could also face challenges: The MMORPG was meant to act as a sort of substitute for WoW, which shut down in China in January 2023. In the meantime, there is a new deal between NetEase and Blizzard, and WoW could return to China. In the West, Tarisland is dealing with Pay2Win accusations. Nonetheless, MeinMMO author Cedric believes Tarisland has the potential to be the best new MMORPG of 2024 – if you give it a chance.
