What is known about the total number of players? In March 2026, those responsible at SEGA announced on pso2.com that the PSO2 series has welcomed 12 million players worldwide on the servers. To celebrate, there was an event campaign with login bonuses, boosts, and more.
What kind of game is this? The successor to the legendary Phantasy Star Online from the year 2000 (the first MMORPG for a console) focuses on an action-packed combat system, a wild sci-fi fantasy mix, and a free-to-play model.
Other important features include the flexible class system that allows you to easily take on different roles, the useful robot companions, time-limited events, the detailed character creation system, as well as the often instantiated player experience.
Over the many years, the original Phantasy Star Online 2 has been relaunched with the New Genesis version in a graphically and gameplay-modernized variant. However, you can also play the classic version of the MMORPG.
