Rank 1: The Player Character
- Known from: All Fallout games
Let’s be honest, Fallout invites you to indulge in morally questionable actions without restraint. Be it in various quests or simply through gameplay. On your excursions through the wasteland, you generally kill masses of human, animal, or mutated creatures as a player.
During some quests, you cause the destruction of entire places. The city of Megaton is obliterated in Fallout 3 with an atomic bomb. Optional, of course. Just as optional as often you shoot, rob, or deceive innocents to reach your own goals (and loot).
You can join various factions, including those with no good intentions, and become their tool on the path to great power. With all the violence and malice required for it.
In summary: You can play a morally good hero in Fallout, but most of you will probably do the opposite.
The wasteland is a fantastic playground for evil behavior, allows for experiments, and often rewards morally questionable decisions with unique quest endings and real consequences. For these reasons, the player character deserves the well-earned top spot in our ranking.
