Rank 5: Violet Violence
Rank 5 is held by Violet Violence. Despite its elemental appearance, it is a wild animal that takes the form of a violet-colored ice crystal. You can only obtain the Violet Violence if you complete one of the hardest collecting achievements in all of World of Warcraft: You must possess 1,600 different battle pets.
At least at the current moment of Dragonflight, this is only possible with a lot of effort. As a newcomer, you will have to spend several months looking for all possible pets if you want to get anywhere near the Violet Violence.
But at least: With each patch and every new expansion, this pet becomes slightly easier to obtain as the total number of pets steadily increases.
Rank 4: Luvvy
The little Luvvy has only been in the game since patch 10.0.7. It can drop from the rare enemy “Luttrok” on the Forbidden Island with a very low chance (~ 2.5%).
Luttrok is not one of the “normal” rare enemies displayed on the world map. Instead, it requires cooking profession items to summon Luttrok. However, the chance of obtaining the pet is increased if you are the one who summons the enemy.
Rank 3: Volatile Self-driving Toolbox
The Volatile Self-driving Toolbox is also quite new, as it was introduced in patch 10.0.7. It cannot be found in the actual game world, but is only available through the new “Refer a Friend” program. You need to refer one (or more) new accounts, and they must purchase at least one month of playtime.
Some people simply bypass the “problem” by creating a second account to refer themselves, which indirectly makes the toolbox a “shop pet”.
Rank 2: Phoenix Wishwing
The Phoenix Wishwing is on this list because it is a “secret” pet that was discovered only recently.
To get this cute pet, you must defeat Alysrazor in the Timewalking raid of the Firelands during the Timewalking: Cataclysm event and loot her ember. But that’s not all – afterwards, you need to farm materials from various elementals and phoenixes all over Azeroth for several hours, so that in the end, you can buy the pet in the peaks of Arak.
Rank 1: Bucketshell & Sir Snips
You might be surprised that Bucketshell and Sir Snips share rank 1, but these pets are still among the rarest even years after their introduction. To obtain them, your WoW account must reach an honor level of at least 400 in PvP.
400 is quite a hefty number – to reach this level, you will probably have to spend at least a year every evening for several hours in battlegrounds.
On top of that, there is the problem that honor for dedicated PvP players eventually becomes just a “byproduct” that you don’t farm intentionally, but instead, you gather conquest points in arenas and rated battlegrounds, as honor quickly loses its significance.
