Season 3 has changed the weapon preferences of players – major hits from last month have disappeared from the scene and new stars are among the favorites. MeinMMO shows you the weapon charts at the beginning of May with the appropriate setups.
“WZ Ranked” additionally shows the most used setups along with the ranking. In the following paragraphs, you will find a brief description of the weapons regarding their area of use and the most popular attachment combination (as of May 01, 2021).
10th place: M4A1 – Chart dinosaur stays at the top – 3.6%
The M4 remains a popular choice in Warzone. Its good controllability combines with strong damage for a range assault rifle. This has made it an alternative that is consistently chosen since the release of the Battle Royale.
Warzone M4A1 Setup
- Muzzle: Silencer (Monolithic)
- Barrel: M16 Grenadier
- Optic: VLK 3.0x scope
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
- Ammunition: 60-round magazine
9th place: LC10 – Stable SMGs are in demand – 3.8%
The submachine gun LC10 is a very stable option and gives you good control and range in exchange for moderate damage. Due to its high range, it is excellent as sniper support, as it inflicts full damage even up to 20 meters (without attachments). Other SMGs already struggle in their third and weakest damage range.
Warzone LC10 Setup
- Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
- Barrel: 13.9″ Special Operations
- Stock: SAS Combat Stock
- Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
- Ammunition: STANAG 55-round
8th place: Grau 5.56 – Iron sights make the difference – 4.3%
The Grau was the summer hit of 2020 in Warzone and regularly ranks at the top of tier lists. Despite some nerfs, it still delivers very good accuracy to its players and offers an interesting advantage: its strong iron sight. This means you can save on an attachment and strengthen the weapon in other ways.
Warzone Grau Setup
- Muzzle: Silencer (Monolithic)
- Barrel: Tempus 26.4″ Archangel
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
- Ammunition: 60-round magazine
- Perk: Fully Loaded
7th place: Kilo 141 – Former meta king still has many fans – 4.7%
Before the integration of Cold War into Warzone, the Kilo was the top rifle. This was due to its outstanding stability, which it still brings today. Despite a nasty range nerf, it remains a strong option for many players, offering reliability and easy hits.
Warzone Kilo Setup
- Muzzle: Silencer (Monolithic)
- Barrel: Singuard Arms 19.7″ Hunter
- Optic: VLK 3.0x scope
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
- Ammunition: 60-round magazine
6th place: MAC-10 – Remains popular despite nerf – 5.7%
The MAC-10 has a pleasantly vertical recoil combined with a high fire rate. Opponents are shaken by the many hits and can react more slowly as a result. Its range is limited, and its damage has also been affected by a nerf. Nevertheless, the MAC-10 remains high in the charts.
Warzone MAC-10 Setup
- Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
- Barrel: 5.9″ Special Operations
- Stock: Looters Stock
- Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
- Ammunition: STANAG 53-round drum
5th place: Krig 6 – Impresses as a newcomer with stability – 6.1%
The Krig is a new, strong ranged assault rifle from Season 3. It scores with its stability and has a significant advantage over recoil-free assault rifles from Modern Warfare: In the second damage range, it loses significantly less damage.
Warzone Krig 6 Setup
- Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
- Barrel: 19.7″ Ranger
- Optic: Axial Arms 3x
- Underbarrel: Field Agent Foregrip
- Ammunition: STANAG 60-round
4th place: FARA 83 – Strong all-rounder enters the fray – 6.6%
Another newcomer in the weapon meta is the FARA 83. The assault rifle can be adjusted for both close and long-range combat and is currently winning the hearts of Warzone soldiers. However, it is one of the weapons that will be slightly weakened soon.
Warzone FARA 83 Setup
- Muzzle: GRU Suppressor
- Barrel: 18.7″ Speznas RPK Barrel
- Stock: KGB Skeleton Stock
- Underbarrel: Infiltrator Grip
- Ammunition: Speznas 50-round (actually 60 rounds)
3rd place: FFAR 1 – The queen has been dethroned – 6.6%
Previously number 1 in our weapon charts by a wide margin – the nerfed close-range beast FFAR 1. The assault rifle continues to compete with submachine guns but now inflicts less damage. Its still high range nonetheless makes it a strong and popular sniper support.
Warzone FFAR Setup
- Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
- Barrel: 19.5″ Heavy, Enhanced
- Stock: Looters Stock
- Underbarrel: Field Agent Foregrip
- Ammunition: STANAG 50-round
2nd place: CR-56 AMAX – Deals the best damage – 10.1%
The assault rifle has also been a part of the weapon meta for a long time and is proving to be one of the best alternatives after the shift with Season 3. It can clear enemies in both close and long combat. It is popular for its high damage, though this comes at the cost of control. Like the FARA, the AMAX is likely to see a nerf soon.
Warzone AMAX Setup
- Muzzle: Silencer (Monolithic)
- Barrel: XRK Zodiac S440
- Optic: VLK 3.0x scope
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
- Ammunition: 45-round magazine
1st place: Kar 98k – Mobile sniper for all situations – 12.9%
The Kar 98k is a mobile sniper rifle with one-shot potential. If you want a bit more aim stability, then go for larger calibers, like the ZRG 20mm. For a fast sniper rifle that can handle almost anything, the Kar is the best fit and is the sniper favorite in Warzone.
Warzone Kar 98k Setup
- Muzzle: Silencer (Monolithic)
- Barrel: Singuard Customized 27.6″
- Laser: Tactical Laser
- Optic: Sniper Scope
- Stock: FTAC Sport Comb
Conclusion: The era of tactical rifles has left its mark
Since the integration of Cold War into Warzone, the new weapon class tactical rifles has been considered very strong. The DMR 14 was replaced by the AUG, and by the end of Season 2, many were still relying on the M16. But one rifle personified the entrenched weapon meta even more: the FFAR 1. This fast assault rifle led to a low time-to-kill in close combat. This even resulted in players using two weapons of the same ammunition type – tactical rifle and assault rifle.
The preference for assault rifles in close combat remains even after the meta changes. A consequence of the long reign of the FFAR and the weakness of submachine guns, which currently cannot keep up.
The Season 3 is still new and the next nerfs are already on the way. What do you think, in what direction will it all evolve after an AMAX and FARA nerf?
