Over a million fans voted on which Pokémon is their favorite. This resulted in a top 10 list. We will tell you how strong the monsters in Pokémon GO are.
What was this survey about? In the large Subreddit for Pokémon with over 1.6 million members, a player asked which Pokémon are the most popular.
Each player was allowed to cast exactly one vote and vote among all 809 Pokémon from all generations. This includes Pokémon that are not yet available in Pokémon GO. There were 52,000 responses to this survey, leading to these top 10.

What does the survey say? Surprisingly, all Pokémon from the top 10 are already available in Pokémon GO. These are only monsters from the first 4 generations.

What can be said about the placements? Since only Pokémon from the first generations are included, it shows that many players formed their love for a Pokémon in the first console games and few found a new favorite in the subsequent generations.
Since all these Pokémon are also available in Pokémon GO, the question arises whether these monsters are so popular because of their strength, also in Pokémon GO, or whether there might be other reasons behind their placement.
Glurak
How strong is this Pokémon? Thanks to the Community Day Move Lohekanonade, Glurak is among the best Fire attackers in the game. However, there are Fire Pokémon that are better.
Why is it so popular? For many, Glurak may have been the first Pokémon they selected. Glumanda is one of the starters from Generation 1. Additionally, Glurak simply looks epic and plays a significant role in the anime.
Gengar
How strong is this Pokémon? Gengar is the best Ghost attacker in the game after Giratina. It is effective against many raid bosses and is often useful in battle.
Why is it so popular? Gengar is just as much of a classic as Glurak. Gengar is popular because it has such a nasty grin while still looking cute.
Arkani
How strong is this Pokémon? Arkani is not weak, but it is not among the strongest attackers. The shiny version of Arkani is more interesting here.
Why is it so popular? For many players, Arkani embodies the perfect pet. Who wouldn’t want to ride a huge fire dog, just like Ash did in the anime?
Bisasam
How strong is this Pokémon? Bisasam itself is not strong, but its final evolution, Bisaflor, is impressive. Thanks to the Community Day Move Flora Statue, it belongs to the best Grass attackers in the game.
Why is it so popular? Bisasam is, just like Glurak, a starter Pokémon from Generation 1. Many players may have had their first Pokémon experience with it. Bisasam certainly received some votes because it is the first Pokémon in the PokéDex.
Lohgock
How strong is this Pokémon? Lohgock received a strong move only in May during the Community Day with Flemmli. Due to Lohekanonade, it is currently the best Fire Pokémon in the game.
Why is it so popular? Here, the starter bonus likely plays a role. In Generation 3, you could choose Flemmli as your first Pokémon and then evolve it.
Nachtara
How strong is this Pokémon? Nachtara unfortunately did not fare well in Pokémon GO. Its stats are rather poor and it is not a good alternative among the Dark attackers.
Why is it so popular? The Evoli evolutions are generally incredibly popular among players. Nachtara stands out because it is the evolution for the night. Various night owls may have fallen in love with it.
Lucario
How strong is this Pokémon? Lucario has solid stats but suffers mainly from its weak attacks. Therefore, it is not really a viable alternative in battle.
Why is it so popular? Lucario simply looks incredibly cool. This dog-like Pokémon likely reminds many players of their pet.
Guardevoir
How strong is this Pokémon? Guardevoir has strong stats in Pokémon GO. So far, it has only no instant move of the Fairy type, which is why it cannot leverage its type strength well.
Why is it so popular? Guardevoir is particularly popular among female fans. It is the Pokémon that resembles a woman the most. Additionally, it was incredibly versatile in the console games, making it very popular in battles.
Evoli
How strong is this Pokémon? Evoli itself is not strong, but its numerous evolutions are. Glaciola is likely the best among them, as it is one of the best Ice attackers.
Why is it so popular? Evoli is popular because it can evolve into 8 different Pokémon (currently 7 evolutions in Pokémon GO), making it versatile. No wonder that Evoli has become a mascot for the Let’s GO series.
Dragoran
How strong is Dragoran? In Pokémon GO, Dragoran was long considered the best Pokémon in the game. Now it has been slightly pushed back in the Dragon attackers category. However, it is still a good alternative.
Why is it so popular? Dragoran has several factors that make it popular. It looks like a powerful dragon and was also very strong in the console games. Every player wanted a Dragoran, which is why they may have taken it to their hearts.
