We would like to introduce you to the MMOs that currently have the most players on Steam. In these popular multiplayer online games, you should always be able to find players. Survival MMOs and military games dominate the list – but there are also a few surprises in the top 10 most popular MMOs on Steam.
This is how this list came about: Our list is based on the popularity of the games presented here on Steam. These are multiplayer games with MMO elements, which as of August 30, 2019, according to Steamcharts, have the most players. We relied on the player numbers from the last 30 days.
We did not include the “classic MMORPGs” such as The Elder Scrolls Online or Black Desert in this list – we will cover those in a separate list (here is the list of the most popular MMORPGs on Steam from May 2019).

What is World of Warships? World of Warships brings the tactical team battles of World of Tanks to the sea. You command your own battleship and must try to eliminate opponents on the maps.
Each ship has different advantages and disadvantages and should be used in the team according to its tactical function. It is even possible to modify and upgrade the ships.
You attempt various scenarios, such as protecting forts, escorting supply ships, and rescuing survivors. You have access to more than 200 ships from World War I and II, including submarines.
So many players does World of Warships have on Steam: In the past 30 days, there were an average of 4,663 players online at the same time. At peak times, there were 9,346 players in the game simultaneously.
This is what players think: World of Warships is generally well received among players. The balancing is right, the naval battles are enjoyable, and teamwork is important. However, many consider the premium ships to be too strong. Additionally, a lot of grinding is required to unlock free ships.
- TheGiantFox says on Steam: “The game has been quite good so far. The grinding is a bit exhausting, but the gameplay mechanics are quite easy to understand.”
- Desperado explains: “It used to be a fun game with exciting events and interesting activities. Now everything that the developers release turns into a huge grind fest.”
This is what MeinMMO says about World of Warships: World of Warships is aimed at everyone who has had enough of tanks, but wants to experience the tactical battles of World of Tanks at sea. Fun, although a bit grind-heavy.
