Robb had to learn to be a brave leader early on. After his father’s execution, it suddenly fell to him to lead the North into war. In the book, he was only 15.
Nevertheless, he carried the heavy burden with grace. He was very skilled militarily and was able to defeat even experienced strategists like Tywin Lannister in battle. His direwolf Grey Wind fought by his side, making him a formidable opponent. He finally gave the North the courage it needed to fight for its independence and became the first “King in the North” since Torrhen Stark.
Unfortunately, he made a poor decision that would have far-reaching consequences. He chose a wedding out of love, breaking his promise to the Freys. This led to the famous “Red Wedding,” which nearly meant the end of House Stark. The houses of the North were so weakened by this blow that they had to submit to the new rule of the Boltons and Freys.
