Arwen was in Helm’s Deep?
Arwen is one of the few female characters in The Lord of the Rings who unfortunately does not get much to do in the films. Most of the time she acts as Aragorn’s love interest. However, there are a few moments when she gets to show what else she can do. For example, when she saves Frodo from the Nazgûl.
Arwen was originally supposed to be part of the big battle at Helm’s Deep. Peter Jackson wanted to make this change compared to the book to give more space to the relationship between Arwen and Aragorn. The corresponding scenes were shot, but ultimately cut from the film.
However, it was not done cleanly. If you look closely, you can still spot Arwen in the final theatrical version at Helm’s Deep. For a brief moment, you can see her riding her horse in the background and battling Uruk-hai with her sword. It’s a pity that the decision was made against the scene, as it would have been exciting to learn more about Arwen’s powerful side.
