Scarlet is an exotic hand cannon and is carried in the kinetic slot. The weapon is essentially the Destiny 2 counterpart to the exotic pulse rifle Red Death from the predecessor. It fires 3-shot bursts. Kills heal the shooter, and precision kills generate ammunition and refill the magazine. Especially in PvE, the weapon can shine and is best suited for add-clearing in nightfall strikes, raids, and other PvE activities.
It becomes problematic when dealing with “yellow” enemies and the perks do not activate at the desired frequency. In such cases, ammunition may run out quicker than one would like. Additionally, the healing effect does not always activate when needed. However, with the upcoming changes, this hand cannon will soon receive buffs and will perform better in such critical situations. So this weapon should not be neglected in the future.
Sunshot
Sunshot is an exotic hand cannon and is carried in the energy slot. It is currently one of the few exotics that live up to its title and presents a compelling alternative for the energy slot. The weapon definitely shines in PvE and is excellent for mass extermination of enemy groups. However, the Sunshot is also quite usable in PvP.
As part of the revision of Exotics, this hand cannon will be improved again. Although the changes are not planned until May, early teasers from the developers suggest that the Sunshot will become even more explosive and desirable. So you should definitely keep this weapon on your radar.
