4. Menagerie: loot as quickly as you can run
This is what makes the glitch special: The Menagerie is probably considered the best seasonal activity Destiny 2 has ever had. A lot of variety and especially action make the mini-raid with automatic matchmaking so iconic. However, the loot was fantastic – through a glitch, you could get the strong loot you could choose up to 7 times.
Due to a bug, Guardians could loot the chest after defeating the boss as often as they could leave the area and run back to the chest. After each Menagerie run, it was completely normal for Guardians to put on their fastest Exotic shoes and sprint as fast as they could.
The glitch was incredibly simple and very rewarding – the mourning was great when Bungie put an end to the popular trick.
5. Nova Bomb Volleyball
This is what makes the bug special: When Destiny 2 celebrated its release in 2017, there was a game mode that no longer exists today: “Nova Bomb Volleyball.” Well, the mode wasn’t officially there, but what else should you call it when everyone picks the Warlock and every 0.5 seconds throws a Void ball that instantly kills everything in front of them?
In the cauldron, abilities were already charging quickly, but due to a glitch, it was possible to have the Void super as fast as you could use your grenade. It was absurd; the sky was filled with purple Nova bombs, which both sides peppered at each other. Anyone not playing a Warlock will surely remember the volleyball battle with gritted teeth.

6. Jötunn became too hot
This is what makes the bug special: That the Exotic Jötunn takes out everything in PvP with a single shot, which is tracking, is normal. Many Guardians have been annoyed by this for years, and you chose Jötunn as the most unpopular weapon in the game. However, the exotic in toaster form also annoyed raid bosses so much with a bug that Bungie had to disable the weapon in 2019.
Due to a bug, you could basically roast yourself with the Jötunn toaster and massively increase the damage against raid bosses. After just a few hits, the strongest enemies would give up. The more FPS you could squeeze out, the hotter the weapon became. The Exotic was therefore disabled for the Worlds First Run of the new raid. Now Jötunn is still annoying in PvP, but at least the PvE foes are safe.
Bungie has since actually made the infamous toaster Exotic into a toaster, so you can use it for your morning bread at the real breakfast table:
7. Raids with 12 Guardians
This is what makes the glitch special: Raids in Destiny are normally designed for groups of six players. However, due to a glitch in the matchmaking, up to 12 Guardians were possible. The glitch caused chaos but also brought a lot of fun.

The popular glitch lasted a long time in the game, which visibly pleased Guardians in the spring of 2021. Whether this was really due to Bungie’s generosity or because a fix was not that simple has not been definitively clarified to this day. But you know: when in doubt, for the defendant.
