In Destiny 2 Exotics are cursed, bosses learn to fly, and players become invincible with a coin toss. MeinMMO shows you the 10 craziest game bugs from 4 years: the best bugs in Destiny 2 that Guardians will remember forever.
Destiny 2 has been expanded with new content for years, and many updates bring innovations to the game. However, it feels like every patch also introduces bugs that sometimes have catastrophic consequences. Many of the bugs and glitches in the action MMO have now reached cult status.
We at MeinMMO list 10 bugs that Guardians are likely to remember forever. Here you will find exotic weapons that can destroy the game multiple times, bosses that get hit so hard they sail off the map, and more crazy bugs. Some glitches are fun, while others were so severe that Bungie had no choice but to deactivate them.
This listing is not a ranking, but each glitch and bug stands on its own. Have fun with the 10 best bugs from 4 years of Destiny 2.
1. The Prometheus Lens causes a deadly laser show
This is why we remember the bug: With the “Curse of Osiris” expansion, the Exotic Prometheus Lens came to Destiny 2. Right upon its arrival, the weapon completely shattered the PvP balance. The red laser kills everyone at any distance and far too quickly.
The damage was abnormally high due to a bug. Since Bungie couldn’t quickly deploy an emergency fix, they did the only logical thing: they gave Xur the Prometheus Lens, so anyone could buy the Exotic. Because if everyone is OP, no one is OP… or something like that. For one weekend, there was a deadly laser show in the crucible, and the players celebrated the chaos.
Whoever experienced – or better survived – the chaos of the Prometheus Lens was rewarded by Bungie with a special emblem. Destiny 2: Only a few players receive the cool new emblems – Are you one of them?
2. Telesto – when will the curse strike again?
This is what makes the bug special: No surprise, right? Telesto is the besto – this is known to Guardians since Destiny 1. In Destiny 2, the exotic fusion rifle is known as the gamebreaker. No weapon causes so many bugs that undermine game mechanics. Guardians lovingly refer to it as the “Telesto Curse,” which affects a different mechanic each season.
Guardians (and Bungie quite self-deprecatingly) joke:
Bungie should add a counter “Days without Telesto breaking the game” at the bottom of every TWaB

The cause of all the curses/bubbles are Telesto’s projectiles, which can lie around after firing and explode or be blown up by gunfire. Destiny 2 has trouble with the little purple projectiles:
- Telesto could almost completely skip the activity The Blind Well and greatly shorten it. A run took seconds instead of the standard 10 minutes
- In the raid Crown of Sorrow, Telesto could undermine entire mechanics
- The first deactivation of Telesto happened due to a glitch that instantly filled the user’s super with grenades – even in PvP
- Infinite ammo could already be glitched with Telesto
- Telesto triggered a variety of Guardian abilities and unnaturally maximized buffs. Instantly deadly throwing hammer was just one of the consequences
Moreover, Telesto can also predict the future: Guardian discovers an Exotic’s secret: It reveals the future of Destiny 2
3. Bumping raid bosses (brutally) off the map
This is what makes the glitch special: Guardians are used to shoving towering bosses out of the arena without a second thought. This has been a popular raid strategy since Destiny 1. However, with Shadowkeep, it became more brutal: with the new finishers, you could now literally punch raid bosses off the map.
The finisher mechanic is actually meant to finish off injured enemies while the Guardian performs a cool animation, like in a fighting game. However, due to a bug, you could brutally execute the boss of the Scourge of the Past even if he had full health. The punch sent Insurrection Prime hundreds of meters away or even launched him into the stratosphere.
Thus, solo raid completions were also possible. Check out how the boss learns to fly here:
On the next page, we continue with the bugs and glitches that have broken Destiny 2 so severely that we will always remember them. You will find toasters, way too many Guardians, and more loot than you can carry – can you guess the next entries?
